"Gratitude and attitude are not challenges: they are choices"
~ Robert Braathe.

Forever grateful for the amazing souls we have in our lives. 🤍🙏

Most of you know that unfortunately I got quite sick on our wedding day and needed medical care so I could get better.
It means that unfortunately we couldnt get couples picture in my dress.

I also didn’t enjoy the cocktail hour, the food and I can barely remember the ceremony once I fainted.
I cannot remember the beautiful vows that Andrew wrote and told me.

To top up all of that, half of our guests got also sick after the wedding.

I remember reading a book once that said don’t be afraid to let “unpleasant” feelings rise. Feel them, don’t be scared of them.
But then you have to let them go and chose to be grateful for what you have.

The following morning I was the first one awake at the villa we stayed at and started crying for what happened.
I needed to cry so I could feel the sadness for what didn’t happen on our wedding day.
But then I saw that my hair and make up were still perfect after being sick and the night ( yes I know it’s a bit gross but I completely passed out after the night) and remembered that my brother in law had a great camera with him.
So I woke up Andrew and told him: "put your suit back on we are doing couple shots this morning.”
The poor thing was a little bit hungover from celebrating but he got up and we got amazing shots from that morning.

I then focused all my energy and attention to what went well during the wedding day and how much love and support we got from everyone.

I won’t start naming everyone cause the list would be too long but I guess I am just trying to say that we always have two choices: to focus on the negative and get a heavy heart, or to focus on the positive and keep on feeling happy and grateful. 🤍

Finding these old memories from 10 years ago I realised few things:
1. How I wish I was less critical with myself and look at videos of me dancing with a positive critical eye instead of destroying myself for not being good enough or not the right shape for ballet etc…. I would have probably enjoyed the journey way more.

2. How much did cameras on phone involved in 10 years 😂

Retiring from being a professional ballerina after more than 17 years, I thought all these emotions I felt in the studio or on stage, the rushes of adrenaline… I would never experience this again.
People ask me if I miss being on stage but I must admit I feel more fulfilled now that I am on the other side creating works and sharing my own universe with amazing artists than I ever did being on stage. 🤍

Final shows this week-end of "Where the Water Once Was” part of @qldballet Bespoke season. 🌊🤍

This concept started 3 years ago when I read this line from the UN website saying that “the wars of the 21st century will be fought over water”
This phrase brought so much sadness and sorrow to my heart and soul feeling so powerless in front of a future so uncertain.
It has been amazing to work alongside amazing creative team and dancers.
Thank you to @ivan_gilortega for his invitation and for giving me the space to express myself.
To the entire team @qldballet for their generosity and support.
To the amazing @connordnetto and @blacksquarestringquartet for bringing the music to my vision. To @michelle.pinkpineapple to create beautiful costumes from reused materials and @gldaustralia for bringing this unreal atmosphere to the piece. To @ramossotocamilo for his incredible support and help during the entire creation process and for taking care of the work since I left Brisbane.

To @lucymgreen @rianjames90 @surodeevivan @libbyrose_niederer @georgiaswan_ @luca_armstrong @jessstrattonsmith @linakimwheatstone @shaun_curtis @claytonforsyth @inescamille_ @jakemangakahia and all the other casts members for your generosity, grace and trust in the studio and for making it completely yours on stage.

Forever grateful and here’s to the final shows of this season. 🤍
