Pork of July #2 ❤️🐖
Every year, I try to sneak away for a few minutes just to watch. Somehow this party has become a little checkpoint for the life we’ve built in Bend.
The strangers we met at a brewery who became friends. (Golden retrievers make that easy.)
The people we met at the gym while visiting Bend for the first time, who became friends, then chosen family, and now our goddaughter’s family.
Coworkers who became some of our closest friends.
Gym acquaintances who turned into just as close friends.
Friends of friends who are now... our friends too.
Neighbors who became friends.
Family we didn’t even know existed five years ago, who are now teaching us woodworking and metalworking, traveling abroad together, and making up for lost time.
New family members who came to their first hog roast this year.
And somehow everyone ends up together in the same yard.
It’s a pretty special feeling to look around and realize this community didn’t exist for us a few years ago. It was built one conversation, one introduction, one invitation, one smile, one friendship, and one golden retriever making eye contact at a time.
