This guy has been stuck in my head for a couple weeks, so I had to draw him. I’m having SO much fun working on this weirdo.🧛🏽‍♂️ #workinprogress #nosferatu #artforartssake by @clairedelucca

Feeling a little melancholy these past few days as the sun dips below the horizon a touch earlier each evening. The flowers in my garden have traded their lively pinks and purples for noble golden yellows and our maple is blushing into hints of red. Cool breezes surprise me while I still crave long warm evenings at the beach and cicada song. I wrap myself in a blanket and watch the moths nestling among the lasting blooms, marveling at the brevity of a whole year. I’ll fall in love with Autumn when she arrives, but somehow I’ve become a Summer Girl. 🌼

I had so much fun drawing the front and back cover art for the Rosebud zine’s 3rd issue! The theme was Summer in Cleveland and included little games, coloring pages, activities, and an amazing hotdog paper doll. I’m so lucky to work with these talented folks: @ktmarcotte @cardboardsea @maxiemized @bugwithapen @5am_popup @nateofamericans @lindseybryanart

I crept outside in the middle of the night to peek at the Lunar Eclipse, and she was gorgeous - dressed in orange and red with a little golden hat, winking at me from behind the drifting clouds.

Did you see her too? by @clairedelucca

What Would Dolly Do?
She would encourage us to be authentic and brave. She would be curious, inclusive, and welcoming. She would apologize when she messed up and do better when she knew better. She would give generously. Work hard. Be a light in the world and the reason why someone’s day ended up better than it started. 🌈

“What we really hoped in our soul is that we could, for just a moment, have the world pause and remember that this is a beautiful planet in a very special place in our universe, and we should all cherish what we have, what we have been gifted.”
Reid Wiseman
Artemis II Commander

Felt like sharing some Moon art (and Earth art) while basking in the Artemis II afterglow. Butterflies were everywherrre during our Spring Break visit to Claytor Lake State Park. One morning, I got up early to watch the sunrise and was startled by the moon, more crisp and clearly visible in the daytime sky than I’ve ever seen her. The astronauts had just looped around the moon and the butterflies scampered wildly around the new flower buds and I was filled with awe and delight to be part of it all. 🤍 by @clairedelucca

The Moon has always been a source of fascination, inspiration, and comfort to me. Lunar folktales, myths, science, history, space travel… I find all of it incredibly interesting. And the Artemis II mission has brought me immense joy and hope. In celebration of their incredible journey around the moon and safe return to Earth, I’m sharing some Moon-themed pictures I’ve made over the years. 🩶🌚✨ by @clairedelucca

I had a devil of a time on Halloween! I looove dressing up, and the creative folks I work with go all out. This year’s theme was “Classic Halloween.” Do you see the glam skeletons dripping in pearls?! The vintage cat! The pumpkin head with her white ruffled collar! The clowns!

I was a classic red devil, inspired by old illustrations of medieval jester-like imps. I altered a thrift store gown into a tunic and found a delightful velvet bonnet.

The layered capelet I made out of tulle is my favorite part (I fought that tulle and I won!). It makes me feel so glamorous, even when capering around like a tiny demon. 👹 by @clairedelucca

More snaps from the Haunted Forest installation! Visitors have to walk under the giant spider built by @bugwithapen (who also created the incredible Baba Yaga house). Thank you to @5am_popup for his cardboard engineering skills so that our giant central tree could have dimensional branches. @nateofamericans created so many fun backlight vignettes. @ktmarcotte helped spearhead and organize this project and built the terrifying king of trees (among many other things). Delightful forest sprites by @lindseybryanart . @fleshereel donated many props and worked on much of the spooky scene along with @oneyellowballoon @davidfedan @cardboardsea @jkbutseriouslycreative @jallyillustrations, Alyssa Jaskiel, and the very talented Allan Kneale (who created the amazinggg tiny Mothman).
I’m lucky to work with such creative folks who all collaborated on this project just for the fun of it. Working with my hands to wrestle cardboard into something special was very rewarding and I can’t believe we pulled off such a cool installation in such a short amount of time! by @clairedelucca

“Made of trash”, the Haunted Forest was created by a group of dedicated, scrappy artists out of whatever we could scrounge and transform - cardboard, paper, tubes, egg cartons, neon paint, jars, foam, and lots of other odds and ends. I had the honor of collaborating with several coworkers to make an immersive experience just for the heck of it, in the spirit of AG’s Haunted Aisle from decades past. From Baba Yaga’s house to carnivorous plants, from giant spiders to tiny sprites, from faces in the trees to a miniature Mothman (my favorite!), plus lighting and sound effects. Working with cardboard, nails, and paint was a thrill! Will share more soon.

I had a disgustingly delightful time making some spooky specimen jars for a Haunted Forest collaborative art installation at work. It’s been a lonnng time since I made anything with my hands. Loved the feeling of paint on my palms and glue under my nails.
