Highlights of Ethiopia 🇪🇹

Abuna Yem’ata Guh is a 5th-century Ethiopian Orthodox stone carved church in the Gheralta Mountains, known as the “church in the sky.”

Perched high above the valley, it was founded by Abuna Yemata, one of the Nine Saints who helped spread Christianity in Ethiopia. To reach it, you climb straight up the rock face, edge along a narrow cliff, and go barefoot the final stretch.

Still active today, this was easily one of the most unique travel experiences I’ve had. 🇪🇹 taken in Abuna Yemata Guh by @claireimler
