POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
About last weekend… Australia’s longest-running electronic music collective Clan Analogue took over Bar 303 in Northcote on Sunday the 11th of October for Emerge, a showcase of upcoming local electronic artists as part of Melbourne Fringe. From live coding to UK garage to euphoric electronica, it was a great reminder of just how diverse Naarm’s live electronic music scene is.

Huge thanks to all the artists, Bar 303, Melbourne Fringe and everyone who came down to jam, listen and support local electronic music. Here’s a taste of the day.

4AM Satellites warps samples live - building and deconstructing drums and a wobbly analogue synth until something special and unexpected happens in the room. Watching Danny's sets is a different exchange of energies each time: swapping samples, building delays until the weirdness hits. Electronica to Tech House with a UK leaning.

The opening set for Clan Analogue's Emerge at Bar 303 this Sunday will be from Harte Echtzeit, a performer who works predominantly with algorithms, scientific data and live coding. His music is driven by scientific data such as gravitational waves which exist on larger more complex scales in space and time than we can perceive as humans.

iubar project's contribution to the new Stories From the Field compilation is “Daylesford Naturalix” which uses source material captured in 2021 in Daylesford, on unceded Dja Dja Wurrung Country, during a COVID-19 lockdown. Birdsong, creek water, wind and ambient textures recorded in the Wombat Forest are reworked through sample manipulation and granular synthesis, retaining a strong sense of place while extending these sounds into new sonic territory.

Join electronic music collective Clan Analogue for an immersive multimedia listening party at MPavilion, in the Queen Victoria Gardens, Melbourne, on Saturday the 12th of September, from 5pm to 7pm. This will be the first public opportunity to hear the sounds of Clan Analogue’s new compilation release Stories From the Field, to be presented with accompanying video projections, artist talks and a Q&A.

At the Stories From the Field listening party you will hear music made from many different spaces and situations: forests, cities, houses, industrial sites, ponds, dog walks on ice, the Musée d’Orsay, emu encounters and even a hospital emergency room. Recordings were made across four continents, in countries including Japan, New Zealand, France, USA and Australia. Presenting artists include Martin Koszolko (iubar project), Nick Wilson (Reductionist), Timothy Dwyer (Horse MacGyver), Tieran Kimber (BluNjin), Sebastian Barahona (Sound Epiphany), Jon Drummond, and Greg Lawrence (Cephlon).

The event will be generously catered by Bonehead Brewing and ECK Wines.

BluNjin's "Dam Frogs" is derived from original recordings of frogs in a dam in the Yarra Valley, processed through various samplers to create a new sonic environment. The listener moves from being a passive observer into a state of visual and auditory immersion within the ecology.
