Where and how do I even start…

First of all - IMMENSE gratitude to my client Fernie for everything about this piece. He won one of my giveaways and wanted Jim Carrey’s wolf impersonation in The Mask movie done in realism. He wanted the wolf to capture who he’s influenced by, and asked for my own interpretation of this idea. Well. I wanted to design something that was fun and playful, different than other “The Mask” tattoos I’ve seen, and really present who heavily inspired the movie as a whole - the cartoons.

Besides The Mask’s character and general storyline being based on the comic, the wolf impersonation itself is a direct pull from animator Tex Avery’s Slick Joe McWolf character, and expressively very Looney Tunes. I didn’t want the wolf to be by himself, so I paid my own homage by reimagining Cameron Diaz as Wolfie’s Red. The newspaper was the perfect route for me to really pull everything together and in case the green face wasn’t enough, a way for a viewer to have the “ -oh that’s The Mask!!” moment click. Overall, I had so much fun with designing and executing. If there’s anything I can really ramble about it’s how much I love Looney Tunes. And I love Jim Carrey. And I love The Mask. It’s a brilliant movie, and I really feel honored to have made this on someone. Thank you Fernie for your dedication and trust. The honor was truly mine.

If you made it this far, thank you for reading. I hope you like it as much as I do. Thank you for all the love and support 🤍

This was tattooed over the course of 3 back to back days, approximately 23 hours. Words seriously cannot fully express how thankful I am.
