Excited to share that our book has been shortlisted for the Paris Photo–Aperture Book Awards in the First Photobook category! ✨📓 Comes November it will be exhibited at the Grand Palais in Paris among 20 other beauties. Above all, I’m thrilled to be representing Latin America alongside @martha_mydear (Mexico City), and to be spreading stories from the Global South together with @faridrenais (Jakarta), @hebakhalifa_77 , @somewhereincairo and @mohamedhassanphoto_ (Cairo). I first began exploring photobooks in 2014’s internet, while living in a hometown where few people had access to such titles. And still today the majority of consumers, published authors and debate around the medium concentrates in Brazils southeast, among the most privileged — which makes it all the more moving to see this North-eastern production being featured alongside artists and publishing houses who have long been a source of inspiration. Thank you @aperturefnd and @parisphotofair for connecting with all of this. The deepest gratitude to Propágulo, @brunapedrosa @andrepenteado , who made this book possible — a collective book 100% funded by Brazil’s public cultural initiatives*. Mesa de trabalho até domingo. Tá delícia: tem um pufe bacana onde geral pode sentar e folhear minha mini- bibli de fotolivros; tem a galera que pára pra trocar ideia sobre a vida e sobre o pai; tem a geração Z da trend "photoshoot em museu"; tem o pessoal que vem me perguntar o que tem dentro da caixa de @antiribeiro; tem Vitor um menino autista de 11 anos que disse "sou artista tbm" quando me ajudou a colar coisas na parede e perguntou "o seu pai morreu MESMO três vezes?!" Vão me visitar! 💜Estarei na Janete de Sexta à Domingo das 15h às 18h trabalhando e desejando trocar ideia sobre inventar e matar um pai, sobre fotolivros, edição de narrativas fotográficas y otras cosas más. by @clara__simas

Last month we hosted an event at home with @mae.community , a platform that organizes gatherings in artists’ studios and galleries in Berlin. Since arriving here, I’ve been introduced to a new concept: the speakeasy encounter ~ small groups of previously unacquainted people coming together to talk about art and share personal impressions and experiences sparked by the work.With the platform’s support and the help of a group of darlings of my own (!) I welcomed a beautiful group of 20 souls who brought their bodies and presence to dive into the research and production journey of My Father Died Three Times. In a storytelling format, together people lay in the hammock, sipped caipirinhas, nibbled on pão de queijo by @tababrasileira_berlin , watched films and shared intimate experiences, ones I’m very grateful to have been entrusted with and will forever sherish. 📓🖤..(!) A shout-out to @luanseminsta for producing it so beautifully and to @andrebramiro @michelzzalis for the supportph: credits for the beautiful pics goes to @carogalharte ✨ by @clara__simas
