Extracts from New Contexts for Sound, our fourth publication born from a conversation held at @autoitalialondon in March 2025 as part of the Art/Work Association programme.The discussion brought together curators Sara Sassanelli @sara.sassanelli (@a.l.i.c.e.a.g.e.n.c.y / @conditionsstudioprogramme ), and Eduard Solaz, (@iklectikartlab ), alongside everyone present, who generously shared reflections on the resources, challenges, and needs surrounding sound practices and the physical—and non-physical—spaces in which they exist today.This publication reflects our desire to create more opportunities for collective conversation—not simply to present work, but to gather around it. Join us on Wednesday 27 May at Present Tense @___presenttense for the launch of New Contexts for Sound — a new zine developed through ongoing research into contemporary sound practices and the grassroots conditions that shape and enable their dissemination.The publication results from a conversation held at Auto Italia @autoitalialondon in March 2025 with Eduard Solaz (IKLECTIK) @iklectikartlab and Sara Sassanelli (Conditions, Alice Agency) @sara.sassanelli , hosted by the Art/Work Association.From 6 PM, we’ll begin with a speculative conversation open to all, imagining ideal, possible, and even impossible scenarios for experimental and performative sound today, in London and beyond. A shared space to think, drift, and reimagine new utopian contexts for sound.We’ll then move into a collective listening set by gravemere @mort_drew RSVP via link in biogravemere is a London-based experimental ambient producer and sound artist hailing from Huddersfield. Their work includes samples of bat echolocation, photosynthesis bubbles through hydrophones, and the electromagnetic hum of hand-soldered induction microphones picking up frequencies imperceivable to human ears. Blurring the boundaries between the real, the present, and the remembered.Present tense is a place for writers, thinkers, & tinkerers alike. We are a co-working space and a creative community for exploration & encounter; using poetry as a linchpin to explore meaning-making across mediums, ideas & practices. by @claramaraa

Out today our first limited edition tape featuring Eunoé, a soundscape by Clarice Calvo-Pinsolle @laminalalamina , recorded during her performance in October 2024 at Fondazione Elpis, Milan. The composition extends the installation into the realm of listening, inviting reflection, memory and inner exploration. Inspired by myth and neuroscience, Eunoé imagined sound as a form of care, awakening what lies dormant. The cover and editorial project accompanying the tape was created in June 2025 by Jean-François/Daisy Krebs @jf.krebs with visual fragments realized while listening to Clarice’s piece.
