wow hello senior year 🤪🤪🤪 i feel so lucky and grateful to be making art with my friends all the time!!!!!! of course there are days when i wake up sad or unmotivated or i feel uncreative, but recently those days feel few and far between. my words of the semester are confidence, intensity, and process. life is a process, i am constantly learning the steps and taking note of what is next. i am intense. i feel intense emotions, i want my work to be impactful, i want to be impactful on others. it is okay to be intense. i have confidence. i walk with my chin up, even when things are really sucky. thanks to everyone who has supported my journey this far, goodbye junior hello senior year 1/2 ‼️🎉🔥❤️✨🥂 by @claremaker

i’ve been navigating these different personalities and experiences through my etching work. the way that this medium transforms an idea into a finished print is just what i’ve been missing! i love litho, but something about the sharpness of etching, or the softness of aquatint, makes it easy to try and experiment. i’m drawing from a few different characters here; rosetta, the garden fairy from tinkerbell, olive oil, popeyes darling lover, and betty boop, a lighthearted and whimsical girly girl. i’m not sure why i feel drawn to these particular ladies, but the curls and sharp noses have sort of highlighted those elements to me. i always loved each of these characters as a child, and to this day i admire their charm and kindness. additionally, i am exploring some of these moments of intimacy, like locks of hair on the bathroom tile after a haircut, the corner of a familiar room, or the bruised exterior of a pear next to a candle burning slowly. for me, each of these moments are representing some unnamed feeling that i’ve had or that i’m having. i’m so excited to continue!!! #etching #intaglio #copperplate #art #printmaking by @claremaker

i have recently remembered how it’s actually quite nice to keep a sketchbook. been loving hair and mark making and storytelling portraits. not going for realism here more so the non religious biblical type if that makes sense. man i’ve been reading too much art history. #claremoment #artist #ink #sketch #sketchbookdrawing by @claremaker
