𝐈’𝐦 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞! 👋🙋🏻‍♂️2026 is calling for a new step. I wanted to offer a proper welcome and hello (and thank you) to anyone new finding this page. Grab a chair and get cozy.🤍📚🍵Most of you may know me from my most visible work: photography. Some through design. Some through creative meetups! Some through fitness classes even. Clarence.Creates is me putting everything in one place and materializing my little online bookstore fantasy where I am letting the full picture live (and laugh 🤣~) together. 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫, 𝐢 𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐦𝐲 𝐦𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐬 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐩 🍚🫚🌾 Swipe to see why. In one of my earlier visual essays, I mentioned @creative.quests — a month-long cohort where we explore a theme together (mine was 𝐌𝐚𝐩𝐬) and make something from it. This shoot came right after that, though I only managed to complete it now! 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭The series is titled 疆界 (meaning: border/boundary). It’s a representation of what my creative process feels like. It’s a map of my inner landscape as an 𝐈𝐍𝐅𝐏. Where are my fellow INFPs at? 😉I learned of Pangu — the primordial Chinese being whose body became the land — and it was a fun metaphor for how creating is like part deep excavation, part giving part of myself away 𝙖𝙣𝙙 part energy source. The choice to go for alienesque food to convey the land was because of the wordplay on other Chinese words that sound the same — 薑 (ginger) 🫚and 殭 (zombie). 🧟‍♂️What sticks with me most is how serendipitous it was to find the right people within a week to make this happen. I told @nicolesoo_mua and @growingtkaronto, “I want to build a landscape out of rice and ginger! 🤪”— and even though it sounded far-fetched, it clicked.@growingtkaronto brought in an incredible mushroom mounds, alien tulips, sprouted potatoes to build the set. @nicolesoo_mua created a slow blooming glow makeup that tied everything together, and thank you to @thevincentng and @gavin20001 for moving through the delicate set with such grace that the whole thing came alive.I’d love to hear what these images spark in you. Three inner protectors. Three oracle cards. One series. It’s the side that shields through detachment or distraction.Ochi’s set of photos represents two inner forces meeting each other, while jade centers them. Garrett would never have written this.Somewhere in my thirties, time and lots of support made me realize this armour was no longer necessary. What I have been carrying is mine to put down.I’ve been thinking a lot about how growing older hasn’t felt like becoming someone new. It’s felt more like returning to who I was before I learned to be afraid.#mentalhealthawareness #mentalwellbeing I was extra caught off guard and disappointed finding out many of them chose to become artists too.It was hard keeping up the delineation. Security guards at the dorms were so confused by me 🤪 There were moments I just wanted to say my own name.I forgot how much I documented my spontaneous reactions through Photobooth…My mom HAAATED this final form look of Garrett. She told me at every chance possible how awful the beard made me look.This little shopkeeper looks forward to welcoming you! by @clarence.creates

I’ve always been enchanted by a feeling in films and TV: people coming together through a chance encounter and slowly realizing they’re more connected than they thought. 🗺️ #maptheroom is my encounter. 🗺️A dinner shaped by the people in it: their interests, overlaps, and unexpected threads between them.Last week, I just completed my fourth one, a special collaboration with @asianqueeralliance. 💕 The questions explored our roots: what shaped us and our desires in what we want to return and grow into. We revisited @yuehtungrestaurant where I first prototyped this evening. It’s been a minute since I've posted! The basis of this sharing is inspired by something @mimaschrwonstie said to me a few weeks ago - that you’re still creative even in seasons where you’re not creating. 🌳💗The last few months have been a lot about getting things off my chest, reaching out for help, participating and learning.. and it’s culminating in what feels like a giant EXHALE - to share a slice of that experience.P.S EXTRA SLIDE NOTES1) Alert! 🚨 There’s a new cohort starting in July so you can experience too! @creative.quests This happens four times a year 😍3) Some may see and call this more like charts or data viz, but I see them as maps because their purpose is about representation rather than accuracy.5) TLDR takeaway: the mapping helped me see that my migraine was the worst in moments of stillness and inactivity. I did not know how to relax. What eventually helped my migraines was speaking to a somatic therapist who helped me learn to relax my body.10) K, my tiny sentence for each is certainly not representative of the depth and dimension there is to each offering!! 𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫🌷🎨My home is surrounded by inspiration, so much soul from my mom. Her paintings, flowers, pottery, clay art have long brought warmth and wonder…and wisdom. Her influence and impact on me was a story I felt a need to share and I felt no stronger impulse to construct a fashion story around it.
