Caught three fish. Was it a competition? Yes. I won. Then I lost miserably at the “choosing music” competition. I think it really went downhill when I played Mase and got cut off. Otherwise the weekend was a half-face sunglasses, washing your face in the lake, paperwork on a picnic table, camp chores, fly fishing kind of weekend. A+. by @clarerustad

Just when I got a handle on Pokémon I had to learn a whole new thing and figure out why kids kept asking if I was going to blow up while we were trick or treating. Construction castoff cardboard came in handy as did 10 rolls of tape in different colours. These took four World Series games to construct and one of those went to 18 innings. Waterproofed with garbage bags. He will let me do this forever right? by @clarerustad

Forgot to post the rest of the summer photos but here is day one of grade 4 where I was forced to take him 20 minutes early so he got the best hockey stick. Track pants and soccer shorts until we die. by @clarerustad

Road trip 2025 stop 1: Tyaughton lake playing soccer with the kid by the water, catching a fish my first time using a fly rod and then claresplaining fishing to everybody, taking fish hooks out of teenagers, and not wearing shoes. Stole one of these photos from @lisa_erlic75. @cookwithmebc sometimes contained his language for the sake of the kid. skuiack if you wait for a fish to do its thing and then just cast at it, that’s how you catch fish. by @clarerustad

Just before I started a 5 game May Long weekend when the kid was giving me a pep talk that focused on how many top corner goals he scored at his own practice. I remembered how to slide tackle. I have a skinned knee now. That was fun. Photo cred @tonydenman by @clarerustad
