Yep. That’s me at age 13 getting my very first electric guitar. A Peavey Predator. I was supported from an early age to pursue music, which is not always the case for some people. I also grew up in a family of modest means, so it was a group effort that made this a reality for me. I once heard a teacher of mine say, “Did you ever consider the possibility that you didn’t choose the guitar but in fact it chose you?” Honestly, it feels that way sometimes. Some things never change. To this day I love playing guitar. I love how it has been a bridge between me and other people even if we don’t speak the same language. But it’s a universal language that transcends beyond the written or verbal. I honestly would not change a thing either. Thankfully I met someone who loves music and being married to a musician too 🎰

It was a perfect fall day when these photos were taken at The Institute For Advanced Study in Princeton, New Jersey. I am grateful for all the amazing people I’ve met through music, and it just keeps getting better. by @clarkabbottmusic

We met as undergrads at UC Berkeley in 2007 in a class called, “Science Fiction & Horror in Cinema”. We partied backstage with Parliament/Funkadelic at George Clinton’s 75th birthday party at Yoshi’s in San Francisco. I have only had good times and have only great memories of this truly amazing human. This man was one of my dearest friends and one of the funkiest cats that ever was. He was so kind and generous to me, and then me and my wife. He taught me to love good sound, and how to “snarffle” a seafood boil. I have struggled to post anything because of how hard it has been to wrap my mind around the loss. I miss him so much. I will never forget you, Kealoha, and I am so grateful to have been one of the lucky ones to get to do a season of life with you. Aloha, my dear friend 🙏❤️‍🩹🎸🎶 by @clarkabbottmusic
