Bodycam footage from March 10, 2024 shows sheriff’s deputies in Silver City, New Mexico responding to a report of a non-responsive child. They found a 5-year-old girl dead in a cluttered room, under her sleeping parents, who were slow and unresponsive when deputies woke them. Deputies tried CPR and gave Narcan, but the child could not be revived.

According to local station KRQE, the girl died of carbon monoxide poisoning caused by a lack of ventilation in the home. Her parents admitted to drug use, and her 7-year-old brother, who was also at the home, was hospitalised with dehydration and pneumonia and tested positive for exposure to methamphetamine. Child welfare services had visited the property before. The parents were later charged with felony child abuse resulting in death. We do not know the outcome of the case.

The footage is from 2024 and the faces have been blurred. by @clashreports

San Diego police deploy a K9 on a man who allegedly attacked a parking lot attendant with a broken cane

The 25-year-old ACE Parking employee was struck in the head multiple times near Petco Park in the East Village on April 12, suffering two head lacerations. His injuries were not life-threatening.

Officers later found the 20-year-old suspect near Park Boulevard holding a six-foot wooden stick. He refused commands, non-lethal rounds failed to stop him, and police released a K9, which bit him on the arm before he was taken into custody.

He faces charges including assault with a deadly weapon.

A video circulating on social media since October 7 appears to show two Maasai men in Kenya accompanying a baby giraffe, which stays calm beside them. According to the post that spread it, the men have been looking after what is described as a stray calf for almost a week, and the animal feels secure with them.

We could not verify where or when this was filmed, whether the calf is actually orphaned, or whether wildlife authorities are involved. A mother giraffe may also be nearby. Wildlife experts generally advise against keeping close contact with young wild animals, because it can make it harder for them to return to the wild, and recommend contacting local wildlife authorities, such as the Kenya Wildlife Service.

Video shows huge wave hitting ship at night; ship and date unconfirmed

A video circulating online since October 4 appears to show a large wave breaking over the deck of a ship during a storm at night. Sea spray, lightning and the ship’s lights are visible as the water crashes over the bow.

We could not verify the ship, the location or the date, and we cannot confirm whether the footage is real. Several AI analysis tools we checked found no obvious signs of generation, but none could confirm authenticity. Large ships regularly take heavy seas over the deck in storms without sinking.

If you recognise the vessel or know the source, tell us in the comments.

Update: Viewers with seafaring experience disagree about whether this clip is real. Some point out that the ship does not pitch up into the wave before impact and that no hull flex is visible; others dispute claims about the alarm sound. We could not verify the origin of the clip. Treat it as unverified.

The clip has since been shared by outlets including The Sun Daily (Malaysia), which also noted that the ship, location and wave height have not been independently verified. by @clashreports

A video circulating on social media claims to show Cilia Flores, the wife of Nicolás Maduro, in a US jail cell after she and Maduro were detained in January 2026. The claim is false, according to fact-checkers including AFP, Newtral and Animal Político.

The woman in the video is Ghislaine Maxwell, the former associate of Jeffrey Epstein. The footage was recorded by a surveillance camera in her cell at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn in July 2020, while she was awaiting trial. It was later released by the US government as part of the Epstein files and published by The Independent in February 2026. Maxwell was sentenced to 20 years in prison in 2022.

Fact-checkers found the original footage by running keyframes of the viral clip through a reverse image search. There is no evidence of a similar video of Flores in custody.

A violent storm on Friday evening flooded the town of Madrigueras in Spain’s Albacete province, in the Castilla-La Mancha region. Between 140 and 150 litres of rain per square metre fell in roughly two to three hours, according to Spanish media, and in places the water rose above one metre.

Streets became rivers of water and mud, sweeping cars along and piling them up. Emergency services received 108 calls about flooding in homes, basements and garages. Around 90 people were rescued and more than 130 vehicles were affected. Regional authorities sent an ES-Alert advising people to avoid travel and activated the emergency plan for adverse weather.

An elderly woman died in her home. Spanish media report her age as 100 or 102.

The storm also caused flooding in Murcia, Catalonia and the Valencia region, where emergency services handled hundreds of calls. by @clashreports

Student protests over school conditions have escalated into violent unrest across France. On Thursday and Friday, riot police clashed with teenagers in Paris, Marseille, Lyon, Strasbourg, Rennes, Toulouse and Lille, using tear gas as protesters threw firecrackers and set fires. Roughly 400 schools were closed on Friday, and some schools were set on fire.

Authorities have reported roughly 2,000 arrests since the protests began, according to US outlets; the Associated Press reports thousands of arrests and hundreds of injuries.

The students say they are protesting a shortage of substitute teachers, run-down buildings, overcrowded classes and budget cuts. France’s Education Minister said the movement was “legitimate at the outset,” but the Interior Ministry says the unrest “no longer has anything to do with the legitimate expression of high-school students’ demands.” The government has pointed to the hard left; some members of the left-wing party La France Insoumise have publicly backed the protests.

The unrest comes as the government prepares tough negotiations over its 2027 budget. by @clashreports

A video from the Noh’o attraction above the Sulak Canyon in Russia’s Dagestan region shows a harnessed woman repeatedly begging staff not to make her jump from a platform about 80 metres (260 feet) above the canyon. “Let me go,” she says, and turns to the man who appears to be her husband for help. Staff are then seen kicking her leg before she drops. Afterwards, she was reportedly asked if she wanted to jump again.

The footage was published on September 28 by the Telegram channel Mash Gor and spread widely online. A 41-year-old tourist from Moscow has said instructors pushed her off the platform against her wishes on September 2, Russian media report. Another tourist has said she was injured at the same attraction.

Dagestan’s Ministry for Tourism and the attraction’s representatives dispute this. They say the video was staged for promotional purposes and that the woman agreed to the jump. Russian media report that the video was originally posted by the organizers themselves. The competing accounts have not been independently verified.

The case has drawn criticism of safety and consent practices at extreme-sports attractions in the region. by @clashreports
