Every hero is only as great as the villain standing in their way. So I’m diving into my Top 10 DC villains and the comic books where they made their very first appearances.

From criminal masterminds and chaotic agents of destruction to universe-shaking threats, these are the characters who left their mark on the DC Universe from the moment they debuted. This is my personal go-to list for exploring the origins of some of the most iconic villains ever created.

But no rogues' gallery is complete without a little debate. Drop your favourite DC villain in the comments and tell me which first appearance comic every fan should read.

Hey guys,

I have been an avid book reader and have been collecting books and comics since childhood. After a few years of collecting it becomes difficult to make space for the books as space is limited and premium in Mumbai. Being here on Instagram with such an awesome community (you guys keep motivating me with your comics and collection), my love for books and my collection has kept on increasing.

After a lot of deliberation (read persuading my wife), I got myself a new book cupboard (after Christmas) to keep all my graphic novel TPBs. Here's a quick first look.

Plot: I love Mike Grell's art, its fabulous and vivid creating the amazing and astonishing world of Skartaris where life is a constant struggle for survival.
In this story we as readers see the character of Morgan Travis grow and change his perspective. At the start of the book, we seeTravis treating the flying horse as his personal property not caring if it was hurt or not.
By the end, he develops an understanding that every living creature has a right to freedom and cannot be owned by humans.

Plot: Batman finds three thugs trying to steal valuable furs from a warehouse. Batman confronts the criminals and easily overpowers them. However, Batman notices that the thugs are indeed afraid, but not of him. The next day, Bruce tells Alfred about the previous night and he deduces that the thugs are afraid of a criminal mastermind that they are working for.

DC has been doing a fabulous job with the Absolute universe. I loved the way the story starts and the art seems perfect for this. The first issue is definitely on the mark.

The evil Wizard Deimos has captured Warlord's daughter Jennifer. Deimos goes back in the past to ask for a boon from the Evil One.
The Wizard Mongo along with the Warlord's friends tries to defeat the Evil one.
Aisha the witch reveals that Morgan's son is still alive. Deimos and Warlord collide in this epic climax.

Brilliant artwork by Mike Grell makes this into a classic.
