POSTS STORIES REELS

Album: …And Justice for All
Band: @metallica
Year: 1988
Favorite Song: Eye of the Beholder
Genre: Thrash Metal, Heavy Metal, Progressive Metal
Thoughts: This is my favorite Metallica album, Ride the Lightning is a close second.

While I absolutely enjoy every song on this song Eye of the Beholder being one of my five favorite along with Blackened, Ktulu, Fixxxer (fucking go at me. I dare you all) and Disposable Heroes. I think the love and hate is very much deserved here.

As everyone knows, James and Lars muted Jason’s contributions to the bass. I will have to say that the bass tracks are some of the most well structured and composed bass tracks on an album. Especially when you hear Eye of the Beholder and Frayed Ends rough mixes. Jason is very precise with his players that it adds so much more depth and power to James’s playing that it’s an offense that they did this to haze him.

What I love about the album is how incredibly honest it is. The songs are well paced and the progression from Kill Em’ All is very noticeable. The drums are my biggest problem with the album tho.

The drums are clicky and to me, it shouldn’t have been wasted for what sound this is. It’s not terrible, but with Jason buried in the mix, the drums in fact really do suffer. Listening to the remixes of this album gives Lars more clarity.

Check out Chinobino and EchoBass who have done amazing jobs on the four tracks without bass.

Kirk is fine as he is. Especially in One and Eye of the Beholder.

The 2018 remaster is pretty good tho. Jason’s somewhat more notable in the album.

Great record, but its flaws are completely obvious.

Fun Facts: …And Justice for All was nominated for a Grammy for its song One…..it lost to fucking Jethro Tull.

JETHRO FUCKING TULL.

Album: Ace Frehley
Band: @acefrehleyofficial
Year: 1978
Favorite Song: Snowblind
Genre: Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Glam Rock
Thoughts: This post marks one year since the death of one of my first music influences, Ace’s death was pretty brutal considering the balance issues he had and the life he lived.

Ace was my first music hero and Kiss was the first band I really got into, so this post came down to either this album or his 1987 Frehley’s Comet LP. I chose this record by a slim margin because it’s more favorable and memorable of the two.

I think, to say that this is the best of the four solo LP’s is an understatement. It’s too damn good, the fact people were absolutely floored when this came out, because of the music he brought to the table is good as hell.

New York Groove being a Russ Ballard song originally is kinda funny tho.

Fun Facts: My grandmother used to serve his parents at their local McDonald’s all the time back in his prime. They would come over, get food and show pictures of their precious Paul.

When I saw him back on March 21, 2010 in midtown Manhattan, there was two kids there. I was one of those two kids. It was a Sunday night in March, so he acknowledged the obvious.

“I gotta wrap this up, because I have these two fucking kids who have to be in school in the morning.”

He turned to his left, looked up and waved toward me. That’s a moment I won’t forget, so yea he was cool.

I went to Woodlawn Cemetery in December of 2025 to find his grave. Which I did find, his parents were impossible to find so I did not find them.

Yea. I want to acknowledge that he was a horrible Trump Supporter, not like Gene tho. But I do wish he lived to receive his award even though I fucking despise Trump. In the end tho, the tragedy of his death should be remembered of why taking care of your body and especially understanding your body’s limitations are important when hitting this age.

Rest in Peace to Paul “Ace” Frehley and to my grandmother Trudy.

Album: Untitled (aka Symbols)
Band: @kmfdmofficial
Year: 1997
Favorite Song: Megalomanic
Genre: Industrial Metal, Electro-industrial
Thoughts: This album is a interesting choice to pick, like seriously. I like KMFDM, this is the album that started it all for me when it comes to this genre of music, I consider it my hip hop music. I was introduced to this music by my very first girlfriend back in 2016, but I couldn’t get into it.

Oddly enough way after we split up i tried again, didn’t. Then a miracle happened in 2020. A girl I went to school with liked this stuff and she introduced me to this music after beginning to finally get into them. She got me into albums such as Angst, WWIII, Naïve and lastly Xtort.

I know this is a long thoughts list but finally seeing them in 2022, during the Hyëna tour and then subsequent tours in 2024, have been a amazing experience (Pig as well, but they were one and done).

I would like to say, this band is in fact “The Ultra Heavy Beat”, I would like to shoutout my first gf Catherine and to that girl Leona. Thanks guys.

Fun Facts: This album has some weird fun facts……

The Columbine School Shooting in 1999, gave this band a bad wrap because of the song Stray Bullet, which is a great song btw, it made the band look like they were people who wanted these things to happen. Something similar happened in 2024 with this band in another school shooting.

Sascha Konietzko, said this album split the 90’s lineup, while I do think Xtort and Nihil started the seeds, this one is the one that imploded which was why Adios was rushed, they were breaking up by that point.

In my opinion this is one of the very best and Tim Skold on here is damn good, Raymond Watts is a gifted singer.

This CD however is the more interesting fact, it’s out of print and rare. This is an original Wax Trax! copy, from 1997. They are usually expensive…..like $200 but I spent $47, (ironic lol). I’m glad I have this copy, it’s a cool piece. I hope Sascha reissues this next year because I will gobble it.

RIP Bill Rieflin

Album: Black Metal
Band: @venom_band_official
Year: 1982
Favorite Song: Black Metal……duh
Genre: Speed Metal, Black Metal…….Lawd
Thoughts: A very important piece to the ever growing genre of Metal at the time, the idea of making not one albums about the darkness of a cult, but do it twice and make it better, then the first time is all you need to know why this album is well respected.

Fun Facts: While everyone knows this album for creating the name “Black Metal” (the name is annoying here lol) it also helped inspire the names of other great bands of the genre like Mayhem and Bathory, while I’m not a Satanist or a believer of that cult like following (I am a atheist), I do find the satanic themes in this album interesting and along with other bands.

BTW RIP Cronos 1963-2026.

Album: The Years of Decay
Band: @overkillofficial
Year: 1989
Favorite Song: Playing with Spiders / Skullcrusher
Genre: Thrash Metal
Thoughts: Considered one of the most quintessential albums of the genre, although I do think Bonded by Blood and Doomsday for the Deceiver are better albums, the absolute impeding doom of @bobby.blitzofficial singing like a angry motherfucker is more of a self chaotic force, while the guitars of Bobby Gustafson is as attacking the mix by the sheer compromise of its own, the drums from Sid Falck are crystal punching clear. The best part of the album is (D.D. Verni) @ddcalliacband on bass. The bass flows and sticks so beautifully. It’s probably the reason why Pantera’s second album Cowboys from Hell sounds so good, this is probably one of the best albums Terry Date produced. It’s a classic album and no skip-able tracks.

I saw them at St. Vitus recently, I was where Blitz was and we play a second second hand wrestle and I snagged a drum stick, when they played Elimination, people got more nuts.

Fun Facts: I remember the first time I listened to E.vil N.ever D.ies I legit thought that my phone froze or something when the song ended, but nope, the sudden and before finishing anything was completely intentional. Based from what I read, the song was supposed to be Overkill IV of their self titled song series, the fifth part of the song came out in 2007. It’s basically similar to Rush’s ‘Fear’ series. So yeah, it’s very fucking interesting.

This was me on March 21,2010. I was a 9 year old boy who was a massive kiss fan. Kiss was very appealing to me as a kid before the year before after watching the Wishology trilogy from The Fairly Oddparents. My dad got me to kiss after that I told him about how cool they were. I ran into Peter Criss into Coney Island months later by chance and saw Paul and Gene in Kiss doing their alive 35 tour for sonic boom.

Then I got introduced to Paul Frehley aka Ace. This dude was very cool to me as someone who liked music so much. Eve tho I’m older now and I’ve grown into heavier music and better musicians I always got drawn back to kiss because of the style Ace did with his own songs.

Ace was the most virtually appealing member of the group because of his unique style and personality. I’m more of a drummer but he’s one of the few guitarists I’ve ever liked musically. This death hurts more than Ozzy because of the nostalgia and the music that he helped create.

The best thing about him was that my grandmother served his parents every weekend at my dad’s local McDonald’s in the 70s when he was at his prime. I’ll take that with me. Thank you Ace. I’ve never know you personally but the show at Times Square in 2010 during the Anomaly tour will be a memory I’ll always cherish.

If you want a great representation of his playing. Listen to his guitar solo on Calling Dr. Love, 100,000 Years and Firehouse.

Album: Boston
Band: Boston
Year: 1976
Favorite Song: More Than a Feeling
Genre: Hard Rock, Arena Rock
Thoughts: Considered one of the greatest debut albums of all time which is something I do agree with. Boston’s first of several LP’s is an experimental vision that took about 8 years to release and have the right amount of time and effort put right into it.

Tom Scholz incorporated a lot of music ideas and arena type of music (hence the gene name) into the album and the vocals of Brad Delp adds more to what the song already is.

This is an essential rock album and it’s one of the best albums out there.

Fun Facts: The vinyl is a first pressing from Italy. I got it while I was in Florence, the song “More Than a Feeling” had scratches on it and it was said that it was unplayable, my turn table said otherwise tho. I was surprised it was playable and obvious clicks from the vinyl. The vinyl case is colored purple while my CD version is colored green. The case is so old and kinda rotted that you can tell I probably should’ve just not gotten it.

The CD, is a different story tho, it’s a original release from Epic Records like the Vinyl was but however the back work and booklet are original, the CD case wasn’t and I replaced the original as the old one was rotting, the CD matches the case as it was from eBay. My dad owned this original copy but I was able to restore it and make it look a lot better from now I previously looked. I have done this with The Police’s “Zenyatta Mondatta” and now doing it with Meat Loaf’s “Bat Out of Hell” and I’m trying to do it with his old copy of Rush’s “Power Windows”

Rest in Peace to Brad Delp and Sib Hashian

Album: The Number of the Beast
Band: @ironmaiden
Year: 1982
Favorite Song: Run to the Hills
Genre: Heavy Metal, Speed Metal
Thoughts: A essential metal album that every metalhead should listen to and own. The Number of the Beast was Iron Maiden’s third studio album and their first with the mighty Bruce Dickinson, although he wasn’t credited for anything because he was on a contract with another band.

Fun Facts: The album name is a reference of a book which it explains that the number of 666. Which is a number associated with the Devil.

Rest in Peace to Clive Burr

Album: The Book of Taliesyn
Band: @deeppurple_official
Year: 1968
Favorite Song: Listen, Learn, Read On
Genre: Progressive Rock, Psychedelic Rock, Hard Rock
Thoughts: Also known as Deep Purple II Many people tend to forget this album along with the other two psychedelic albums in Deep Purple’s catalog due to the different musical atmosphere of the albums sound and influence.

With bands like the Jimi Hendrix experience, The Cream, Pink Floyd, The Doors and The Rolling Stones becoming popular at this time with psychedelic music, Deep Purple followed suit, being influenced by these bands.

What’s interesting about these albums, is that half of the songs or original compositions while the other half are covered that were turned into the psychedelia. It sometimes feels like these are original songs, even though half of them are not.

In my opinion this is Nick Simpers best bass album.

Fun Fact: Although people love the Ian Gillian stuff more than the Rod Evan’s stuff, this is my favorite Deep Purple album.

Rest in Peace to Jon Lord.

Album: The Dark Side of the Moon
Band: @pinkfloyd
Year: 1973
Favorite Song: Time
Genre: Progressive Rock, Psychedelic Rock
Thoughts: A fine piece of work created by what I think are one of the most influential artists of all time. Pink Floyd had all the right criteria for making concepts that have withstood the test of time. As a listener, they are a psychedelic dream that you crave more of and this album is no exception. Although not a desert island album for me, it is a very close No. 6.

This is the album that launched them to superstardom. After years of experimenting with psychedelic and other types of progressive music creations, they ultimately succeeded with this album. When you listen to albums like The Piper at the Gates of Dawn and Atom Heart Mother, it looks and sound like a different band from what they made here. But it’s all the same band, the same thing goes to bands like Pantera for example. This is David Gilmour and Roger Waters at their finest. I mean that literally.

Fun Fact: This album along with “Obscured by Clouds”, were created at the same time. But this album they started to play before it, as they would play the whole album live before the release of their previous album, but this one took a long time to make.

I like both albums a lot but you can see why the previous album was but rushed out the door.

Rest in Peace to Roger “Syd” Barrett and Richard Wright.

This album in my opinion is The Greatest Album of All Time.
