Today NASA scientific instruments left earth from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida on board a ULA Vulcan rocket for a 46-day journey to the lunar surface. To mark the occasion I thought it would be fun to show you this beautiful Seiko 6139-6002 produced in 1974. These watches are commonly referred to as ‘Pogues’ after the astronaut Colonel William H Pogue, who took his personal Resist Dial 6005 on the Skylab mission of 1973/4. His watch is widely acknowledged to have been the first automatic chronograph to be worn in space.

Available (Now sold) - Full set 6139-6005 True Pogue from February 1971 in great overall condition. Inner/outer boxes, foam insert, language hang tag & both books. Serviced and on full length original straight H Link that will fit up to a 20cm wrist. Please DM with enquiries. Cheers 🥂 #classicseiko by @classicseiko

Available - 6139-6002 Resist T dial Pogue from July 1971. Everything about this one is excellent, a collector grade piece for sure. The Resist T dial is near mint, as are the hands, lume, indices and inner bezels. The case and outer bezel have the usual marks from 55 years of use but no dings, it retains good factory lines and is unpolished. The caseback is very good too with no nasty scratches. The bracelet is original to the watch, has the correct folded ends links and will fit up to an 18.5cm wrist. Just serviced. I’d give this one a high 9/10. Please DM with enquiries. A ray of golden sunshine ☀️

New podcast is out, and my Seiko Pogue is back after a little loan time, and there really is nothing quite like it.

Historical significance, iconic looks, space adventures, and a bargain for what it represents. Bloody marvellous 🤩

These two beauties will be off to their new custodian today in the Netherlands 🇳🇱 - Both watches serviced by @be.vintage.gb and looking superb. 6139-6010 from 1969 and 1971 6139-6005 True Pogue that was also supplied by Brandon. Cheers 🥂 #classicseiko #seiko6139 by @classicseiko

Available (Now sold) - Very clean JDM 6138-0020 Tokei Zara from April 1972. The name roughly translates from the Kanji to ‘bowl watch’ due to its unusual case shape and this design has become widely know as the ‘helmet’ along with a few other Seikos (and Omegas). Due to the large case and mix of brushed and polished surfaces they are prone to damage but this one has survived relatively unscathed. The dial, hands and indices are in fantastic condition with the sweep and sub hands retaining a super vibrant colour. The watch is just serviced and comes on its original Seiko 5 Sports bracelet that will fit up to a 19.5cm wrist. Hope everyone is having a great weekend and please DM me with enquiries. Kanpai! 🥂#classicseiko by @classicseiko

Available (Now sold) - Super minty 6139-6005 Pogue from May 1978. This North American variant has a truly wonderful deep honey R dial glow and is an absolute belter in all respects. Apart from being one of the cleanest Pogues you’re ever likely to see, the production date of May 1978 gives it another angle of interest as this is the latest I’ve come across on more than 10 years of collecting. Just serviced and on original tapered H link that will fit up to a 19.5cm wrist. Please DM with enquiries. Cheers 🥂 #classicseiko

Edit: The marks on the bezel were some kind of sticker remnant and are now gone. Even cleaner now! by @classicseiko
