When the water drops away, keeping your bow up isn't about raw strength—it's about execution long before you hit the lip of the drop.

Breaking down the anatomy of a clean lean boof:

Reading the Water: Spotting the exact launch pad, identifying the foam pile below, and choosing the line that works with the river’s energy, not against it.

Building Momentum: Speed is your friend, but timing is your best friend. Generating the right forward speed so the boat flies over the hydraulic instead of getting swallowed by it.

Boat Angle & Edge: Setting that precise lateral angle just before the lip, loading the stern, and transferring your weight with a crisp body lean to keep the boat flat and driving forward on landing.

When you lock these three elements together, you don't just clear the drop—you stay on line and carry speed into the next move.
