I am truly grateful to have been one of the two recipients of the STEAM trailblazer award last week during the @opbfoundation Women’s History Month Awards Reception.

Thank you to everyone who was cheering me on and everyone who continues to support all of my humble efforts. 🙏🏾

I can’t wait to continue this important work!

Here are 3 good reasons to obtain a STEM degree:

1. 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀- While a STEM degree doesn’t guarantee a job, it provides an opportunity to engage with deep concepts and complex topics. The U.S. Department of Education emphasizes the importance of STEM skills and content knowledge in addressing global challenges.

2. 𝗝𝗼𝗯 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 - STEM fields continue to be in high demand. The Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts an 8% growth in STEM employment rates by 2029. Mathematical sciences, including business analytics and data science, show significant career opportunities.

3. 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗘𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗹𝗲𝘅𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 - STEM jobs are known for their competitive salaries. As of 2022, STEM professionals earned an annual mean income of $100,900, nearly double that of non-STEM jobs. Moreover, STEM careers often offer flexibility to balance work and family life.

Had a blast chaperoning a group of students at the Maryland Science Center. 𝙁𝙪𝙣 𝙁𝙖𝙘𝙩: Asking a scientist to chaperone a trip to the Science Center is like paying a kid to eat ice cream. 🤓🍦

Here are some of our favorite exhibits (swipe):

The Dinosaur exhibits transported us back millions of years, showcasing fascinating fossils.

🧬 The Biology exhibits explored the wonders of life, nutrition and diseases.

⚖️ ‘Buckle Up’ demonstrated Newton’s law with hands-on pulley systems.

🌪️ Tornadoes let us create mini storm systems and learn about their formation.

🛏️ Bed of Nails proved how distributed pressure can make lying on nails completely safe.

🎨 The Stroop Effect puzzled us with its cognitive tricks and colorful wordplay.

⚙️ Newton’s Pendulum showed off the beauty of kinetic energy and momentum.

It was amazing to see science come alive for the next generation! 🌟 #ScienceRules #STEMAdventure #MarylandScienceCenter #CuriosityInMotion by @classychemist
