Enna Cheung is creating an series of monoprints, layering the whisper-thin translucency of Awagami Sekishu and Tengucho Japanese papers to reveal shifting veils of light, ink, and texture.

As printed images meet and overlap, the papers catch subtle variations in tone and surface—some layers glowing softly through others, while ink settles into their delicate fibers. Each monoprint becomes a tactile, atmospheric composition shaped by transparency, depth, and chance.

This week, Sharon Epstein has continued her Mokulito course at Art Print Residence, with Ariadna Abadal as her instructor and technical advisor.

Sharon has been developing and printing a series of Mokulito plates inspired by botanical forms, working on different Japanese papers and exploring their delicate qualities, transparencies, and the way the printed images interact with the paper.

This week, Enna Cheung has been working on a series of plates using soft-ground etching and the Ziegler tint method, as part of a course led by Ariadna Abadal at Art Print Residence.

Through the Ziegler method, Enna explored the possibilities of creating rich tonal areas and subtle textures within the soft-ground process, experimenting with different values and surface qualities on the plates.

After completing the etching process and proofing the plates, she produced a small edition printed on Hahnemühle paper.

A focused week of technical research, exploring the expressive possibilities of soft ground, tone, texture, and intaglio printing.

Enna Cheung — Large-Format Monoprints

Today, Enna Cheung presents the prints she created over the past week as part of her residency project at Art Print Residence.

Working with large-format monoprints on plastic plates, Enna has been exploring the possibilities of ink, gesture, layering and transparency. The works are printed on Japanese Awagami Sekishu paper, whose delicate surface and character beautifully complement the subtle qualities of the monoprint process.

These prints bring together a week of experimentation in the studio, taking full advantage of the generous dimensions of our etching press to work on a larger scale.

Clàudia Lloret, our master printer, sharing with our resident artists the artist’s book Dibuixos de veu by Perejaume, published by Murtra Edicions, our former publishing house.

The original prints in the book were created using soft-ground etching, while the texts were printed using typography.

A special opportunity for our residents to discover a work that brings together printmaking, typography, drawing and the artist’s book — and also a piece of our own history in fine art publishing.

We are delighted to present “Colors of the Mediterranean”, an exhibition of prints by Eduard Huertos, currently on view at the Club Nàutic de Port de la Selva, Catalonia.

The works presented in this exhibition were created and printed at the Art Print Residence studio, exploring the colours, light and atmosphere of the Mediterranean landscape.

The print that gives its title to the exhibition, “Colors of the Mediterranean,” is also part of the international print portfolio Catalonia Colour Palette, a project sponsored by Art Print Residence and SGCI International.

Created with the collaboration of a group of international artists, the Catalonia Colour Palette portfolio brings together different artistic interpretations of the colours, landscapes and identity of Catalonia through contemporary printmaking.

The complete portfolio will be presented in Pittsburgh, USA, in connection with SGCI International, bringing a small piece of the Mediterranean and Catalonia to an international printmaking audience.
