POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
9 years 🥹 If you’ve heard this story before, feel free to skip ahead bc I tell it like every year. Ricky and I got engaged Sept. 2nd, the year we graduated college. Bc we needed to start my immigration paperwork ASAP, and were told the timeline had basically doubled after the new administration, some very sweet family friends advised us to just get married immediately. So we were engaged for about 20 days. 😂

We had ZERO money. Like, we were both making basically minimum wage, and with only about a week to scramble, my parents couldn’t afford to fly in. We also couldn’t really afford to miss work. So Sept. 22, 2017, we both worked half a day and then went and got married at Lake Dardanelle.

About an hour before the wedding, one of our friend’s dads offered to officiate, which was great bc we also did not have the $50 we were supposed to pay the justice of the peace. Naturally, instead of handling that like normal adults, we texted the poor man that I’d gotten cold feet and then BLOCKED HIS NUMBER bc we panicked. 😭

Our college friend and her family were there. My parents watched on FT and cried. We didn’t have rings. My original plan was basically to go home and do nothing after the wedding. My mom took mercy on us and booked us one night in Branson. 😅 Since we still had no money, we Groupon-ed our way through our honeymoon with indoor mini golf and an old-timey photo that we somehow lost.

And bc apparently the day needed one final plot twist, my Tourette’s was SO bad from the stress that someone at the hotel called security bc they thought there was a dog in our room. Security came pounding on the door. Truly romantic. 😂

I love telling this story bc every year it feels a little crazier to look back at those two broke 23-year-olds standing by a lake with no rings, no money, only my parents on FT, and absolutely no idea what the next nine years would look like. And somehow, through every version of our life since then, we’ve just kept choosing each other.

Nine years later, I’d still marry you by that lake. Although I’d probably bring paper rings this time. ❤️ taken in Russellville, Arkansas by @claudiapscott

Growing up, I had a couple of horses, Bindingan and Tiro al Blanco, and they were some of my favorite pets I ever had. I loved riding them, and once I didn’t have my own horses anymore, I was always trying to find any chance I could to ride my uncle’s or my cousins’ horses. I’ve always thought horses were such special, gentle animals, and I really missed riding. So for our 9th anniversary, Ricky surprised me with horseback riding. We got breakfast, went riding, and then went to a lavender farm. Had the best lavender scone and lavender lemonade, did a little shopping, had a really good lunch, and just spent the day together. Truly one of my favorite days we’ve had in a while.🪻🌾🐎✨ taken in Keels Creek Trail Rides by @claudiapscott

One of my favorite days in southern France. Aigues-Mortes, founded by King Louis IX in the 13th century as France’s gateway to the Mediterranean, is one of Europe’s best-preserved medieval cities. Today, its centuries-old walls overlook the Camargue’s famous pink salt marshes, where sea salt has been harvested for generations. The history was incredible, the views were even better, and the company was top tier 😘 taken in Aigues-Mortes by @claudiapscott
