🚜🔥 Things got competitive at Distribution yesterday!

Around 13 competitors from our Distribution and Profiles teams took on the Forklift Champs preliminary round, making this our biggest round yet!

There was plenty of skill, concentration and friendly competition on display. 👏🏆

A massive thanks to everyone who got involved. Now the question is... who’s heading to the finals? 👀

🌲 Small project. Big difference.

Our new chip pad at the Thames Sawmill is now in place, improving stormwater control and helping protect the surrounding environment by providing a dedicated area for wood chip storage and management.

It's one of many improvements happening across our sites as we continue investing in sustainable and responsible operations.

🏉 A season to be proud of!

Claymark is proud to sponsor the Marist St Michaels Senior A Rugby Team, who have wrapped up a fantastic 2026 season with plenty to celebrate.

The team made history by winning the Bay of Plenty Rugby 7’s Competition for the first time in the club’s history, earning their place at the National Rugby 7’s Competition in Wellington, where they finished 6th in New Zealand.

They carried that momentum into the 15-a-side season, claiming and defending the Tai Mitchell Shield for five consecutive weeks before battling their way through to the Central Bay of Plenty Senior A final and finishing runners-up.

🏆 2026 Achievements
🥇 Bay of Plenty Rugby 7’s – 1st Place
🇳🇿 National Rugby 7’s – 6th Place
🥈 Central Bay of Plenty Senior A – 2nd Place

A huge congratulations to the players, coaches and everyone behind the team. We’re proud to support Marist St Michaels and look forward to seeing what the team can achieve next season! 💙🏉

$Sometimes it's worth stepping back to see the bigger picture. From the log yard through to processing and production, every part of the operation works together to keep timber moving. This aerial view captures just a fraction of what goes on behind the scenes each day at Claymark. #Claymark #BehindTheScenes #TimberManufacturing #DronePhotography by @claymarknz$

A view you don't see every day.

From processing to sorting, every piece of timber follows a carefully managed path through our operations.

Behind every finished product is a combination of skilled people, specialised equipment, and a commitment to quality at every stage of the journey.

These are the steps that help transform New Zealand timber into products used here and around the world.

🚜 Three days. Three shifts. Two Grand Final places on the line.

The Forklift Champs competition rolled into our Vaughan Road site recently, with operators from across all shifts taking on the course for a shot at the Claymark Forklift Champs Grand Final.

The competition delivered plenty of close contests, impressive skills, and good-natured banter as participants put their accuracy and forklift handling abilities to the test. While most of the cones survived the challenge, a few definitely had a tougher week than others!

After three days of competition, two standout operators earned their place in the January 2027 Grand Final, where they'll represent Vaughan Road against finalists from across Claymark.

Well done to everyone who stepped up and took part. The race to become Claymark's first Forklift Champs champion is heating up!

Harnessing the Power of the Sun in Katikati

Did you know our Katikati Sawmill has been generating solar energy since 2022?

With 1,136 solar panels installed across the site, the system produces approximately 690 MWh of renewable energy every year. That's enough energy to power around 98 average New Zealand homes.

Investments like these help us reduce our environmental impact while supporting more sustainable manufacturing across our operations.

We're proud of the steps we're taking toward a cleaner and more sustainable future.

🏆 The road to the Claymark Forklift Champs Grand Final has officially begun!

Last week, RSL hosted the first preliminary round of Claymark's inaugural Forklift Champs competition.

Seven competitors took on the course, showcasing their skills in a great afternoon of teamwork, friendly competition, and plenty of laughs along the way.

The winner and runner-up have now secured their spots in the Grand Final in January 2027, where they'll go head-to-head with top competitors from across our other sites.

This is the first time Claymark has run a competition like this, and we're excited to see who will emerge as our very first Forklift Champs winner.

Congratulations to everyone who gave it a go! by @claymarknz

📍 CLAYMARK THAMES

The Thames site is the only location within the Claymark Group that produces PrecisionPine® for the Australian and New Zealand markets.

PrecisionPine utilises fibre sourced from the greater Coromandel region of New Zealand's North Island, an area renowned for producing high-quality, high-density radiata pine.

PrecisionPine® by Claymark offers a comprehensive range of sustainable structural framing products, available in a variety of sizes and lengths, including untreated, H1.2, and H3.2 options.

Quality is at the heart of everything we do. Each piece of PrecisionPine® undergoes no fewer than eight grading and scanning checks to ensure it meets regulatory requirements and the specific needs of our customers.

The Thames team is also investing in the future, with the installation of a new Hewsaw that will enable the processing of smaller logs, improving productivity and maximising value from the fibre supplied by our forestry partners.

While the Thames sawmill has been operating since the 1946s, it became part of the Claymark Group in 2010 and continues to play an important role in delivering quality timber products across New Zealand and Australia.

With decades of experience and a focus on innovation, the Thames team continues to help deliver the quality products Claymark is known for.

Powering a More Sustainable Future at Thames

We're excited to be investing in renewable energy across our Thames sites, with new solar installations helping to power our operations while reducing our environmental footprint.

The first stage at our Lower Site will feature 726 solar panels and generate around 544 MWh of clean energy each year, enough to power approximately 78 average New Zealand homes.

Additional solar projects are also planned across our Upper Site facilities as part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability and innovation.

This is another step forward in building a more sustainable future for Claymark and our communities.

📍 Site Spotlight | Katikati

Every Claymark site has its own story, and our Katikati team plays an important role in delivering quality timber products to customers both here in New Zealand and around the world.

At Katikati, logs are processed into green rough sawn timber before moving through drying and the remanufacturing plant. The site produces a range of products, including solid boards for the US DIY market and finger-jointed boards for domestic and international markets.

Continuous improvement is a big part of what we do. With the recent upgrade to the site's Microtec scanner, the team is achieving better defect detection and recovering more high-grade timber—making the most of every log that comes through the mill.

None of this would be possible without the people behind the process. With around 190 team members across a variety of roles, Katikati is powered by the experience, teamwork, and commitment of the people who turn raw timber into quality products every day.

These drone shots offer just a glimpse of the operation, but it's the people inside the gates who make it all happen.
