I was 17 years old when I first visited Italy. I remember coming home from school to tell my mom that I overheard some teachers planning a summer trip abroad with a select group of students. Before I could even finish sharing the details, my mom said, “Chris, find out more. You’re going.”

Just like that, she found a way to make it happen.

That was my mom. She didn’t wait for someone to tell her what was possible. I grew up listening to stories of her own travels when she was young. She was always encouraging us to explore the world and approach life with curiosity, so that we would never stop learning.

Italy was her favorite place in the world. I can still vividly picture the way her face would light up when she spoke about it. “THE PASTA!” she’d say, looking like she was about to melt. ❤️

Being able to give that same gift to my own sons was never a matter of if, but when. Having the opportunity to come full circle with them this summer is something so unexplainably special.

In honor of the woman who taught me that whether it’s a short trip down the road or halfway across the world, life should always be approached as an adventure. Never stop learning, exploring, and growing. Life is too short not to.

Happy heavenly birthday, Mom. ❤️ Although you were with us every step of the way, here’s some more unseen footage of our Italian adventure. 🇮🇹 by @clbrew90

Roma! 🏛️📍

• truly a city full of wonders
• our own little Romulus & Remus were in absolute amazement of all the history
• very grateful for the Roman aqueduct system during a 100+° heat wave ⛲️
• Tonnarelli all’amatriciana has taken my love for pasta to new levels 🍝
• Gelato has officially ruined American ice cream for us all… but a lemon slushy doesn’t compare to a Rhode Island Del’s 🍋 by @clbrew90

Nine years ago today — NINE.

Our last single-digit trip around the sun, and somehow it still feels like yesterday we were wandering the woods in search of our sleeping T-Rex and friends.

Proud is an understatement. You are my greatest gift and my greatest legacy.

Keep reaching for the stars and shooting for your dreams 🏀

Happy birthday, my loves 🤍 by @clbrew90

My lesson this year, give yourself grace during the lows yet always remember it doesn’t define you. Choose to LIVE everyday.
