Is it time for the U.S. Federal Government to consider improving the TSP borrowing option for federal employees? If the Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board decides to do so, there are two ideas we saw as opportunities for change. We think changing borrowing limit up to $100,000 and providing TSP loans as a personal line of credit would be something for account holders to handle during these challenging financial times. In this case, we created a case study that channels 21st new audit energy in looking at opportunities that could help clients. For information about our case study or anything else, reach out to us at @clearcompliance.

Auditing is not just about checkbox reviews to find problems. Instead, auditing, or the 21st century, is about helping your client exploit opportunities that meet or exceed goals and objectives. This case study shows how the U.S. federal government’s @usopm could further its goals and objectives in transforming the federal workforce with two ideas on improving the federal annual leave benefits. Our approach looked at areas that could be exploited, in a good way, to help the federal agency provide more streamlined services that enhances federal employees’ benefits. Instagram, YouTube, X, and Linkedin are some powerful tools in reaching an audience. Yes, we know TikTok is around (when are getting banned again 🤷🏾‍♂️), but we focused our attention on the social media platforms that the U.S. Armed Forces can use without too much grief from the politicians.

When it comes to the total number of followers across the four mentioned platforms, the Army is clocking at more than 8.3 million. The Air Force, Navy, and Marines clocks in more than 5 million followers across the four mentioned platforms. Both the Coast Guard and Space Force hit the 1 million followers club. Well done to all of the U.S. Armed Forces and keep cooking content on the respective social media platforms.

Instagram is a powerful social media for getting content out to the masses. And it seems that this platform is where the U.S. Armed Forces are doing some serious flexing in followers. The Army is the lead dog, but the Air Force is flying close by, the Marines are on the hunt, and the Navy is not far. These four branches of the military are clocking pass the 2 million followers. While the Coast Guard is not in the 2 million club, it is hunting for the 1 million club. The baby of the group, the Space Force, has passed the 100k mark on IG for messaging.

Among the U.S. Armed Forces that use YouTube, each of the six branches have a presence on the platform. But, the Army outran the others with more than 2.1 million YouTube followers. The other armed forces are there, but from a fun competitive nature, some work is needed if the others want to catch up to get the message out.

When it comes to the U.S. Armed Forces’ use of Linkedin, all six branches understood the mission about messaging and the use of this platform. However, the Army reins supreme among the group, clocking in more than 1.1 million followers on Linkedin. The Army is the only one to crack the million mark. The other armed forces’ numbers are nothing to ignore and shows that each understands that Linkedin is a great tool for reaching the professional partners.

Among the U.S. military branches, the Army is the top dog with more than 2.1 million followers on X. The Navy, Marines, and Air Force are also in striking distance of the Army’s numbers with more than 1.7 million followers on the platform. The Coast Guard and the baby of the armed forces, the Space Force, are in the six figure club, but are punching its way on X.

The U.S. military branches understand that social media is a powerful tool for communicating to the public and others interested in what the armed forces do.

Many U.S. federal agencies with inspector generals, or IGs, use different social media platform to get its message across about the audits, evaluations, and investigations of the parent agency's programs and fundings. The most common platforms used are: X, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Instagram. Among the 74 IGs in existence, 36 have social media presence. However, three IGs have followers in the six-digits. Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) takes the crown with 170,259 across social media platforms. The Government Accountability Office (GAO) is second with 137,384. Veteran Affairs is the third IG with 114,175 followers among its social media platforms.

Social media is an important tool that could help IGs get its message out to the masses. These platforms are also a great way for contractors, cities, counties, nonprofits, and other groups and individuals to know more about the IGs and what is on the radar. For the IG community, step the social media game.

Many U.S. federal agencies have inspector generals, or IGs, that conduct audits, evaluations, and investigations of the parent agency's programs and fundings. Part of the letting the public and others know what they through communication. Out of the 74 U.S. federal IGs that exist, 34 have an Instagram presence.

The Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) runs well ahead of the IG pack with 170,115 followers. SIGAR outpaces many of the IGs that have a more domestic focus. So it says something about what SIGAR is doing to get followers interested in its work. On the low end, the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) only has two followers.

X is still a social media tool for IGs to use to capture an audience with their message. At the moment, SIGAR understands this even as it is slated to wind down operations and its work per Congress statutes.

Part of the letting the public and others know what they through communication. Out of the 74 U.S. federal IGs that exist, only eight have an Instagram presence.

The Government Accountability Office (GAO) IG is the King of the Instagram game among the others with 5,537 followers. However, the Federal Reserve Board/Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection is in the back of the pack with only one follower.

Instagram is another popular social media tool that IGs can use to get their message out about its work. At the moment, the GAO IG understands the assignment.
