Cleft History: I was born in 1985 with a bilateral cleft lip and palate. Back then, they didn’t do taping or NAMs. However, my surgeon fashioned a special bonnet for me to wear that was supposed to help push the premaxilla back. The premaxilla is the pair of bones that hold the front four teeth in place. But when you’re born with a bilateral cleft lip and palate, because the premaxilla isn’t anchored by the other parts of the jaw bone, sometimes it grows forward with the nasal septum.

My bonnet didn’t help much with my extended premaxilla, but it’s interesting to see what different surgeons were trying before the development of the NAM or use of taping.

Here are some photos of my with the bonnet on (spoiler, I hated it).

A little magic, a little distance, and a very good date night. ✨

Our first date last year was watching the original Practical Magic separately together. We pushed play at the same time and texted our thoughts throughout. (Although there was a little miscommunication in the beginning and we were watching two different movies at initially 😂). When Practical Magic 2 came out, we knew we had to see it. Come with us on our date night in two different countries! 🖤✨

Nuestra primera cita, el año pasado, consistió en ver la película original *Practical Magic* juntos pero a distancia. Le dimos al «play» al mismo tiempo y fuimos comentando la película por mensaje de texto (aunque hubo un pequeño malentendido al principio y acabamos viendo dos películas distintas 😂). Lingerie and sexy are not my usual content.

When I posted the boudoir series a few weeks ago I was nervous. It felt vulnerable and didn’t adhere to my usual family-friendly vibe.

But the photos felt important to post. Because people born with cleft contain multitudes. We are smart and funny and kind and creative. And yes, even sexy.

This comment left on the original boudoir post sums up the concept behind this photoshoot and exactly why I needed to share these photos with the world.

We deserve to be seen in all of our ways.
Even sexy.
