I’m partial to a chin and jawline combo.

Aging is ubiquitous, progressive, and highly individualized due to genetic and environmental factors, which is why I’ve never subscribed to the belief that people in their 20s should never start Botox/Dysport.

Frankly, I meet a lot of patients in this age group that have exhausted all non-injectable skin treatments and still find themselves barely moving the needle. So yes, while *most* 20-somethings can afford to wait to get injectables, *some* benefit greatly from starting their journeys early. And it’s disingenuous to pretend otherwise.

Adding definition and projection to the chin can balance the lower face and make the jawline look sharper by association. It’s not about volume for the sake of adding volume, but more so targeting deficits to optimize proportions.

Botox’s (and Dysport/other neurotoxin brands) most underrated talent isn’t wrinkles, it’s muscle optimization.

More and more patients are viewing Botox with a completely different lens nowadays and opting for more muscle relaxation over simple wrinkle reduction. The purpose is to relax muscles that overpower facial expressions.

Here’s what each treated area does:
• Brow lift: Creates more distance between the eyebrow and eyelid giving visual opening and reduced heaviness
• DAOs: Reduces downward pull of the corners of the mouth, creating more lifted mouth corners
• Chin: Reduces the dimpling of the muscle and upward pull of chin, creating smoother skin texture and soft elongation
• Jawline and platysma: Also referred to as the ‘Nefertiti lift,’ it reduces the downward pull of the neck muscle. Can create a shaper jawline, reduced jowling, and a more supported lower face.
