Kodak Tri-X 400 ISO (400TX) Now available in-store + online for $13 at CobbleStore.

One of the most iconic black & white films of all time, Tri-X 400 is famous for it's gritty grain, deep contrast, and classic journalistic feel. For decades, it’s been a go-to stock for street shooters, documentarians, and anyone chasing timeless images.

If you’re just starting out, Tri-X is forgiving and versatile, perfect for handheld shooting in daylight or with a flash indoors. For experienced photographers, it’s a film that rewards creativity and delivers that unmistakable look that defined generations of photojournalism.

Clem shot these on his Olympus Stylus Epic and they are unedited. They're a mix of photos from a bachelor camping trip in Angeles National Forest in Los Angeles, CA & some from here in Richmond.

🎞️ 35mm • 36 exposures

Loaded up my Olympus Stylus with a roll of Ilford Delta 400 and took it everywhere, from The Diamond to the city skyline. About halfway through, I realized my flash was broken, so every shot ended up being all natural light.

This resulted in smooth tones, fine grain, and a classic black & white look that works in just about any light.

See the full set and my thoughts on shooting Delta 400 on the blog at the bottom of our homepage, link in bio.

Shot my first roll of Cinestill 400D on the last day of Azalea Flea Market.

Been going there for the better part of 10 years. I can’t even begin to catalog the amount of insane finds I’ve pulled here. Countless stories from people and interactions. Shopped here in rain, snow, ice, mud, insane heat, etc. Going to miss it big time.

Cinestill 400D is currently my favorite film we carry. coming from years of Kodak Porta 400, what I’m seeing from the Cinestill 400D is very similar. Highly recommend shooting with it if you haven’t already.

Our recent trip to New Orleans coincided with Polo Silk’s Cash Money Records from the 99’-2000 photoshow. Easily the highlight of the trip for me. We were able to make it to the opening night with a massive turn out waaaay uptown at the Sibyl Gallery. Then back again the next day during gallery hours where we were lucky enough to chat with Polo one on one and I was able to snap a few portraits.

Shot on my Yashica T4 zoom with a funky beta roll of Harman Phoenix 200 formulated with their 120 chemicals instead of 35.

If you’re in New Orleans please go check out this historic show. Open through March 16, 2025.

During lockdown in 2020 we really didn’t know what the world was going to look like month to month or even sometimes day to day.

Taylor and I were living together in Church Hill and took walks daily just to get out of the house. Sometimes with masks, sometimes with out. Always holding our breath walking by others or crossing the street to the other side when we saw someone walking our same direction from blocks away. Each day walking further than the previous, taking in the sights and sounds of the neighborhoods, get some exercise, and fresh air.

I always brought a film camera on the walks with us, and for the first time ever was inspired to turn ON the date stamp on my camera. With the logic honestly being we weren’t sure how the near future would play out. And wanted to make sure this time in our history was dated.

I hate posting film photos on instagram, just doesn’t hit the way I want it to. But it’s also not hitting at all buried on my hard drive. I just got 8 rolls processed dating back to 2020 and these were on some of them. This past week with the water issues got me thinking I should get some of these out.

Thinking this will be a three part series looking at the photos I have from lockdown. Thanks for reading and looking. taken in Church Hill by @clemsausage
