Our final set of delegate introductions before NMUN-NY in a few weeks!

Why MUN?

Nina: I have always loved environmental science above all, but political science comes in a close second. I also love talking about both of them so the UNEA of model un is perfect for me.

Natalia: I chose to participate in Model UN because it pushes me to step outside my comfort zone and develop important skills like public speaking, critical thinking, and negotiation. Representing a country forces me to look at global issues from perspectives different from my own and understand how complex international problems are. It also helps me become more confident when speaking in front of others and defending ideas in a professional setting.

Elisabeth: I wanted to join MUN to learn more about international relations, hopefully win awards, and make a bunch of friends from around the world.

Natalia: Presidential by Jenn Carter

Elisabeth: Breakin’ Dishes by Rihanna

Word of advice to incoming MUN delegates?

Nina: Being prepared helps, but being adaptable in the moment matters even more.

Natalia: Don’t be afraid to speak! Even if you’re nervous, participating in debate, asking questions, and collaborating with other delegates will help you learn faster and make a bigger impact in committee. Your word matters! Preparation is always important, but confidence within your word is the biggest contribution.

Elisabeth: My biggest advice for incoming model UN delegates is to remember to have fun! by @clemson.mun

Next up on our delegate introductions is Kim and Madison, the double delegates of our head delegates Josiah and Andrew! (Are we enjoying the new color schemes?)

Why MUN?

Madison: I really enjoy public speaking and politics. Why not MUN?
Kim: My cross-disciplinary studies, Italian minor, and experience studying abroad in Italy have deepened my interest in global cultures and how political, historical, and social contexts shape societies. As a future architect working in an increasingly international field, I hope Model UN will strengthen my understanding of foreign affairs and global collaboration so I can design spaces that are culturally informed and responsive to the needs of diverse communities.

Madison: Either One More Time by Redbone or Livin’ Thing by ELO
Kim: The Final Countdown

What are you most excited about for NMUN-NY?

Madison: Getting to see the UN building 😱
Kim: Hearing different students perspectives on foreign affairs and how the curriculum they have been taught at their particular universities and the teaching styles of their professors will translate into their personal debate style.

Stay tuned for our final set of delegate introductions coming up soon! taken in Clemson, South Carolina by @clemson.mun

Before we keep going with our delegate introductions, we want to give a quick update on what we’ve been up to!

Our delegates have been hard at work writing our position papers for NMUN-NY. We are super excited to be assigned Iraq at the upcoming conference, and 7 of our delegates are first timers that are absolutely killing it.

Stay tuned for more updates as we lead into our conference! by @clemson.mun

Get to know our team before our trip to NMUN-NY in March!

Why MUN?

Andrew: MUN has provided me the opportunity to get hands on experience in policy research and understanding how governments work especially with conflicting beliefs and structures while also providing a great network of people to help around.
Josiah: I’ve been doing MUN since high school, and it was one of the main drivers in my decision to go into law post-grad. I think being able to engage with international politics in such a meaningful way has proved to be indescribably beneficial to not only my professional and educational growth, but my growth as a person as well.
