We’re continuing our LFI Spark Animation Fellowship spotlight with Chevez Sanchez and his animated short @resilientcoqui 🇵🇷🐸

Created by @ChevezJSanchez and animated by @cleosstudios, the film follows a young coquí frog as he learns about the resilience of his people in the face of natural disasters. It was inspired by the strength of Puerto Ricans after Hurricane Maria and by the symbolism of the coquí after Chevez discovered Taíno petroglyphs on a boulder in El Yunque.

We’re proud to spotlight Chavez and the artists using animation to tell urgent, heartfelt stories that reflect the realities of our communities. The LFI Spark Animation Fellowship films will receive a special screening at the 2026 @laliff_ , May 27-31.

Meet Señor Jorge! 🇵🇷🐸

Played by Victor Rodriguez 🌟 in @resilientcoqui

Jorge is a jolly and boisterous village elder who loves playing his conga drum and sharing stories to anyone who will listen. He cares deeply for all coqui and always addresses everyone warmly- except when they cheat during a game of Dominos!

Still pinching myself that we made it to @disneyanimation for a private industry screening of our short film @resilientcoqui alongside my LFI Fellows earlier this year!

It was so nice meeting the Disney animation team and it was an honor to share our work. 🌟

Special thanks to @ruvalcablah , Juan Pablo and the HOLA team at Disney for setting this up.🐭
