Washing cloth nappies can be the most daunting part of starting cloth, but it doesn’t need to be! Washing them is quite easy and very simple once you get into a good routine. 🧺

When the used nappy comes off the bum, the washing steps are as follows…

𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟭. Dry pail
𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟮. Pre wash
𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟯. Main wash
𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟰. Dry

𝗚𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗳𝗶𝘁! 👌

𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟭:
Lay your baby on the open nappy with the back elastic in line with the belly button - just above baby's bottom.

𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟮:
Pinch the crotch of the nappy like a taco as you bring it up through the legs to ensure the elastics sit snug into the undie line.

𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟯:
Pull the waist tab up and over the hips and secure the hip snap first, then the waist snap (or velcro) where they reach comfortably.

𝗩𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗿𝗼 𝗧𝗶𝗽:
Ensure the velcro isn't touching skin - you can use the front panel of the nappy as a guard over the top of the legs to stop it from rubbing on the wings.

𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟰:
Push any excess fabric upwards towards the belly button.

𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟱:
Allow enough room for two fingers to fit into the waist band and make sure the leg elastics aren't too tight.

𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟲:
Gently pull thigh rolls away from the nappy crotch to ensure the elastics are sitting right into the groin and check that there are no gaps around the leg elastics.

Just take the plunge by following these 8 easy steps! You can do this with even one cloth nappy, no rigorous wash routine or fancy set ups required. 🧺

There’s no reason you can’t give cloth nappies a try with these simple steps! You’ll be surprised how easy it is and how much of a routine you can make of it. 🙌🏼

Once you feel comfortable you can increase the nappies you use each day and then look into a good wash routine for your washing machine once you are using enough per day. 🧼

But for now.. just start!

When it comes to tackling a sticky situation 💩 I sure know what my choice will be 😂.

🌈 SCHOOL HOLIDAY SURVIVAL GUIDE 🌈

School holidays are here, which means the kids are home, the snacks are disappearing at an alarming rate and somehow everyone is bored approximately 4 minutes after breakfast. 😂

So here are a few tips to help you survive the next couple of weeks…

☀️ Get outside
Even if it’s just the backyard. Fresh air + tired kids = usually a win.

🎨 Have a few activities up your sleeve
They don't have to be Pinterest-worthy. A box of cardboard, some colouring-in or a bucket of water can provide surprisingly long entertainment.

🍎 Embrace the snacks
Have easy snacks the kids can help themselves to. Because apparently being at home all day makes them approximately 700% hungrier.

🧺 Lower your housework standards
The washing isn't going anywhere. Neither is the dust. The kids will only be this age once, so it's perfectly fine to leave the laundry pile and go make some memories instead. ❤️

📱 Don't feel guilty about screen time
Sometimes everyone needs a quiet afternoon, and if a movie buys you an hour to drink a HOT cup of coffee… that's called balance. 😉

💦 Get out of the house
Head to the park, library, beach, playground or wherever you can go without spending a small fortune.

👯‍♀️ Team up with another parent
A playdate for the kids = someone else to talk to while they destroy the house together. It's basically parenting teamwork. 😂

❤️ Don't try to make every day magical
Some days will be adventures. Some will be pyjama days.

And that's okay, because the goal of school holidays isn't to create a childhood straight out of a movie…

It's to make it through with everyone fed, reasonably happy and still speaking to each other. 😂

And if ALL else fails…

Hide in the wardrobe with a block of chocolate, eat it in peace and emerge five minutes later pretending you were looking for the spare towels. 🍫😂
