Getting ghosted in your job search is frustrating—I hear this all the time.

As a recruiter, I want to give you honest insight into what’s actually happening behind the scenes.

Sometimes it’s not intentional, but here are a few common reasons candidates don’t hear back:
• the role gets paused or changed internally
• there’s a high volume of applicants and priorities shift
• hiring decisions move quickly and communication lags
• recruiters are managing multiple roles at once

That said—communication matters. A good candidate experience should always include follow-up and closure.

If you’ve been ghosted, it doesn’t automatically mean you weren’t qualified.

The job search process can be complex, but understanding how it works can help you navigate it more strategically.
