I wanted to get something to honor Cali and couldn’t be happier with the way this turned out. It looks just like her little nose print and it’s comforting to know I’ll have her with me everywhere I go.

Last Monday our little guy Ryder crossed the rainbow bridge. Almost 3 weeks after his sister Cali. This past month has been some of the most challenging times of my life but I’m so thankful for the time we had together.

Ryder weighed 4 lbs but in his mind he was a Rottweiler. He challenged me constantly with being the man of the house. He was the ultimate protector and guardian of his mom.

He was an amazing kayak partner, earning the nickname Riverboat Ryder. He loved going for bike rides in his little basket, he loved working his neighborhood patrol shifts from the front porch, he loved riding in the car with the window down (as long as we were going under 25 mph and pissing off traffic behind us), and he loved being a big brother to Cali.

During this heartbreaking time it gives me comfort knowing Cali has her brother again. It warms my heart that they are together again and I can’t wait for the day we are all reunited.

Cali crossed the rainbow bridge on Christmas Eve. She was the best dog I could’ve ever asked for. It happened so fast but I’ll cherish getting to be there right by her side, just like she was for me through all my ups and downs the past 12 years.

I got Cali when I was living in Pittsburgh, we moved to Nashville the following year and she quickly became a southern pup. She loved every fried food imaginable, she loved to bake in the sun, and she became a local legend in the Boston Terrier community here.

Some of her esteemed accomplishments include:

Biggest Boston Terrier in Nashville - 4X Champion at the annual Boston Tea Party

Once stole and ate 3lbs of Beef Jerky in one evening

Could find a mud puddle in any park

There will never be another Cali, I hope she knows how much we loved her and I’d like to think she loved us too. There won’t be a day that goes by that I don’t think about her. I miss her so much and my heart is broken.

Make sure you give your pets extra belly rubs, all the treats, take time to play or go for the walk, and take more pictures/videos. You’ll appreciate it so much more when you don’t have the chance to ever do it again.

on december 24th, our baby Cali crossed the rainbow bridge🕊️🤍 we are absolutely heartbroken and miss her so much.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
it brings us peace to know that Cali spent her final days doing everything she loved. she got to run free on acres of land in West Virginia, she ate french fries, she stuck close to her brother Ryder, and she received love from sooo many family members. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
i hope she knows how loved she was, she was always everyone’s favorite🤍 thank you Cali for being the absolute best dog a family could ever dream of. we can never repay you for the infinite amount of joy and laughs you brought us over the last 12 years. life will never be the same and we will honor you always.⁣⁣
