this lunar new year i’ve been thinking a lot about what it means to be chinese, specifically as an adopted person. my identity has been discounted countless times because i was raised by white people in america, and it is exhausting. i will always be an amalgamation of my genetics, the people who raised me and continue to support me, and my chosen families. i am chinese in the way that i was meant to be and that is something i will always be proud of. my ability to speak or understand mandarin does not define me or my status as a chinese person. the way that i look does not define me or my status as a chinese person. i am chinese. period. no one gets to take that from me or make me feel as if i am lesser because the ways in which we are chinese are different. there is no room for “not chinese enough” or “not really chinese” in my world and it is not something i will entertain any longer. i refuse to be a part of it. if you have ever made me or anyone else feel that they are lesser or “un-chinese” because of their background then please take this as your sign, Shut the hell up. by @clhorine

i don’t have the words to begin to express what’s been accomplished in the past 5-6 months or how i feel about it, but here’s just some of what OZ & CO has been up to: no less than 4 bachelors degrees earned including capstone projects like AVATARSONA and the MELVIN MOVIE; our artists have played sold out Lollapalooza official aftersparties at the House of Blues, @boilerroomtv x @subcultureparty sets, released remixes on vinyl, performed alongside the likes of @xychelsea87 and walked in the NYC Pride Parade. this is only some of what has been done by us and there’s more to come and much more to see. we can’t wait to see you in 2023. i have endless love for you all and thank you for making life what it is by @clhorine
