What Danny says here applies to everyone and everything in life.

It’s worth it to ask yourself if you’re showing up honestly, authentically as yourself, because our selfs change. And that’s okay.

What parts of yourself are you hiding in a closet? For me it’s the parts that I don’t like to acknowledge are even there. Feelings of unworthiness, guilt, shame. That big, scared teenage kid who I keep around out of love, even when he lashes out, or clings to what’s no longer serving me.

We’ve all let something that we know is wrong persist longer than we should.

I chose this part of our conversation because I’ve seen a rise in homophobia lately from celebs, athletes, and the government. I know someone out there needs to hear this. Happy Pride. 🌈

Lately I’ve just been focusing on breathing. Try it. Breathe deep.

Offer unconditional love for yourself no matter what comes up. Know that you are never truly alone. And no matter what happens, you are loved. Try it on.

Now more than ever, It’s vitally important to remember that a hole can be fixed. That wounds can heal. Just because things feel overwhelming doesn’t mean you’re weak.

Focus on the air coming in, and the air going out.

Lately it feels like we are all forgetting to take the next breath. But life is happening all around us constantly. We are so inebriated by our phones. It’s nice to slow down, and just be.

They are trying to exasperate us to the point we feel like giving up.

And maybe that tactic would work, had I not known and loved so many powerful men and women who fought too goddamn hard for us to give up now.

Think of all the human beings that came before us who stood strong against impossible odds and still succeeded. When you think of how far we’ve come, we gain perspective that we’ve actually defeated worse.

I choose to keep going because I hope for a better future, even when I don’t always believe in it.

And I desperately, perhaps selfishly, need you to keep going with me.

After all, the only way to climb a mountain is one step at a time.

In order to understand AI we have to first understand ourselves as humans.

That seemed an impossible task long before the question of artificial intelligence.   So what does it mean to be human? To have consciousness? To make art? The answer is a subjective truth we each get to discover for ourselves.

AI is made in our image. It inherits has our flaws. It is only as scary as we are.

Still, there’s a stigma around AI.

As there should be. It’s an unknown frontier.

If we could first address our own biological programming, our own evolutionary shortcomings, wouldn’t AI naturally follow suit?

Is it possible the technology we create can change what it means to be human? Rob it of its value? Make us less… human?

These are questions I pondered when I interviewed Corey McKinney Jr. A digital artist and animator whose work I admire for its unique aesthetic. Corey’s work is unconcerned with what everyone else is doing. It reflects his own personal taste and experience, as art should.

Corey’s take on AI is more optimistic than mine, and I hope he’s right. He uses it in an ethical way, as a tool to express himself and support his art. He believes it can bring people together. Maybe it will even the playing field for voices less heard.

Ultimately, you can only control that which you can control.

We as individuals do not have the power to convince billionaires to value humanity over profit, or to ethically train AI.

Perhaps a more viable route is believing in the possibility of things actually working out. Allowing yourself to believe in the best case scenario, and then do something that aligns with that belief.

What if we all asked AI what is the best way to spread love? How do we forgive ourselves for our mistakes? What is the best way to spend a day volunteering in our community? Maybe when we’re done, we could look inward for those same answers. Make a more informed decision.

What if we used it to help each other, in a way the ruling class never thought possible?

What might that look like?

Maybe now,
Ever still,
Love is the answer.

I absolutely love creating art and animation with my hands on paper again. I especially love doing it with my friends. This was such a fun episode to make.

I won best Short in a Series at this years Los Angeles Animation Festival. I was astounded at the level of talent and artistry of my favorite medium curated by the festival and so honored to be a part of it. I plan keep making this series for as long as I live. Thank you to everyone involved and for supporting this project. The best is yet to come. by @click_memes

Happy to announce that episode 3 got in to the @laafest and will be screening at Bigfoot Lodge on December 4th at 5:15 PM!

This is the 4th festival selection for this episode. I’m very close to being done with episode 5 and can’t wait to share with you. The best is yet to come.

This might be my favorite clip so far. All 3D animation on this was done by @coreymckinneyjr. The whole question for episode 4 was what would it look like to combine digital animation and AI with mixed media?

Corey’s animation was already so busy I wanted to come up with a way to add to it without taking anything away. So I thought, why not have the digital world come into our physical world?

This is a moment from an old Instagram post that I felt captured the perspective of Libby’s friend in her passenger seat. One of those moments that get randomly burned into your memory one day and stays with you forever, you know?

I wanted to do every frame differently. Some of the frames I liked the least turned out to be my favorites in the final animation. Adding texture or random lines. It’s a fun exercise for experimentation or trying new techniques.

Episode 4 is coming along. Stay human ✌️✌️✌️

I struggled with what to do with this clip from episode 3 until the last minute. I had all these materials I hadn’t used that you can see in the first few frames as I was experimenting. Once I let go and just went with it it came together. I love the 90’s feel to it. It’s also the first official cameo (Cammy-O?) by my dog Cammy.

I had this jar sitting my yard for like 2 years and one day it hit me.

I wanted to make a stop motion shot where @kylehelf head is trapped in a jar, like a Futurama head on paper. This is the most unique shot I’ve done for this series so far. I’d love to try more stop motion or pixelation in the future.

I like that it looks a little rough, and the printer was running out of ink and I let it ride then doodled a bit with a third eye opening sort of representing Kyle’s growth in the narrative of what he’s saying in the interview of Episode 2.

If I did this shot again I would make some different choices in the execution. Experimentation sometimes leads to things looking a little different than I may have wanted, but I guess that’s just @part_of_beinghuman (got ya)
