🔥Reason #67 to @bringbackblackberry… BlackBerrys just look better in selfies!!

Just found these gems on one of my old memory cards from when I was working on my BlackBerry Bold 9900 review in 2011 and asked my better half to take some low light selfies with it. No front facing camera back then so *needed* a mirror!

The Bold 9900 had an EDOF camera (fixed focus) that allowed the camera to be thinner. Not having autofocus caused a bit of a stir among us BB nerds but didn’t stop the 9900 from being everyone’s favorite! by @clickscommunicator

🎙️We’re talking the FUTURE of the @BlackBerry Mobile OS on Episode 3 of the @bringbackblackberry podcast!

Co-Hosts @jeffgadway & @crackberrykevin were joined by Petter Neby of Apostrophy AG for this one where they look beyond the hardware into what really makes a BlackBerry a BlackBerry and what it would take to bring the Spirit of BlackBerry properly into a modern day mobile experience.

It’s a fun listen and will definitely warrant follow up episodes as there is so much to unpack here.

💥 Episode 2 of the @bringbackblackberry podcast was a BANGER!!

Co-Hosts @jeffgadway & @crackberrykevin were joined by intentional tech guru Jake of @returningretro to talk about the resurgence of keyboard devices in market and coming to market soon.

This includes everything from @clickskeys to @unihertzofficial and the Zinwa Q25 which as Jake tells us isn’t quite vintage or retro but is a “resto mod” passion project that’s capturing the ❤️’s of the hardcore enthusiast community.

We have a lot of fun on this one so be sure to listen - please subscribe on YouTube and sign up to the petition at BringBackBlackBerry.com! by @clickscommunicator

The @bringbackblackberry comeback is alive!!!

Had a fun and productive and LONG day in Brooklyn marking the start of the movement to #BringBackBlackBerry.

During the day @crackberrykevin and @jeffgadway recorded the first few episodes of the BBBB Podcast, followed by an evening meetup of @BlackBerry and QWERTY fans!

Always fun when @themrmobile is in the room and so great to have @returningretro fly in to join the fun.

Huge props and thanks to @theunlockr / @coffeechecknyc for providing the space for us to work and celebrate in style!

And what made the night extra special was to have other product builders in the room. Beyond @clickskeys we had @punktdesign @try.minimal and others well represented.

The best part though of course is the passion from all the fans - the love for BB and Buttons never fades.

LFG!! by @clickscommunicator

Android running on the Zinwa BlackBerry Q25!

This is the resto-mod BBRevival project breathing new life into old BlackBerry devices starting with the BlackBerry Classic by updating them with new guts and Android 14.

@crackberrykevin & @jeffgadway flew to China and met up with Zinwa Lin in Shanghai who’s leading the project to pick up a few units and spend some quality time getting to know Zinwa and learn more about the project and his future plans.

This was a full circle reunion given @jeffgadway was literally the man on stage over a decade ago who unveiled the Classic to the world for BlackBerry and Zinwa is the one bringing it back!

Much more to come… If you have questions let us know in the comments. And be sure to follow along by signing up for updates at BringBackBlackBerry.com! by @clickscommunicator

There, I fixed it!! 😃

Been playing around with and starting to use more of the “intentional” communication products on the market. None of them are perfect and they all come at the solution to doomscrolling and phone addiction with their own philosophies (which I like when companies take a stance!).

@thelightphone 3 is a proper detox device… the hardware is gorgeous (nice metal buttons and love the OLED) and the LightOS doesn’t let you do a lot - so you’re going to be missing apps you probably want/need. Think “Beautiful Dumbphone”.

@try.minimal’s MinimalOS gives you a lightweight launcher with full access to Android (and all the apps), but the e-ink screen makes it a device you don’t want to use more than you absolutely have to. Think “Diet Phone”.

Using both, you can’t help but wish they had a @bringbackblackberry baby! by @clickscommunicator

While we’re longing to @bringbackblackberry it’s nice to have viable BB-like QWERTY options on the market again!

The Moto Razr flip with a @ClicksKeys Keyboard makes the “RazrBerry” combo both minimal and maximal and is a lot of fun to use. You can leave the flip closed 90% of the time and just use the external display like an old Berry, but when you need to GO BIG you can unfold it and go BEAST MODE.

By contrast, the Minimal Phone’s E-Ink display makes it more of a “diet smartphone” experience for those who need to break their doomscrolling dopamine addiction, but it’s packing some BB vibes with its qwerty keys.

And the new Titan 2 from Unihertz is heavily channeling the much beloved BlackBerry Passport, to the extent that it’s actually using leftover BlackBerry Passport displays that are 10 years old (way to be scrappy!). It’s chonkier than the OG Passport but breathes new life into this legacy form factor.

Beyond all this keyboard fun, @crackberrykevin is heading to Shenzhen in September to visit the Zinwa crew that’s working to restore old BlackBerrys and update them with Android internals. Such a fun project!

Keep on BBelieving and join the movement at BringBackBlackBerry.com!
