~The Stories That Souvenirs Could Tell~ What is travel if it's moments don't stay with us? This last year when travel reduced I let my mind travel for me, and, looking around my room it found a whole world of memories. The tiny Buddha from Spiti takes me to the monk from Tabo monastery, who said, "laugh like him, and, you too shall find peace," a simple method to live life fully. Prayer flags from Dharamshala have me remembering the kind eyes of the old aunty who explained to me what each flag meant beyond their vibrant shades by chanting in her deep voice that echoed. Surely the rocks have you puzzled, they're a tradition with my favourite person to bring back from our treks and trips something that paints an actual image, as words alone couldn't convey what we felt when nature befriended us. The postcards are my old soul's joy, that ask me to think of the quiet painter in Bangkok's crowded streets who etched a handmade map within this digital world, more focussed on her art than her sales. Postcards can take you cycling down the French colony of Pondicherry with a belly full of baked goodies or can leave your mind pondering about the thoughts one harboured when they wrote to you from the mighty Annapurna Base Camp. And, on days when I feel all alone I clutch the sand in a bottle from Maldives for closer to the waves has always been the best remedy for an act called de-stressing. What is travel if it's moments don't stay with us?
