Both major models now agree that there SHOILD be an area of low pressure forming over the Atlantic this weekend and lingering around for a couple days. What happened after it forms is very much a mystery and will evolve over the coming days but the possibility of waves is HIGH and the potential for a MULTI-DAY swell event is there as well 🤞. With that comes the possibility of landfall as well but it’s way too early to say. taken in Long Beach, New York by @climatekev

Posted Thursday October 15th @ 2:30 EDT.
I usually trust the EURO model over the GFS for midrange accuracy and right now, it’s showing a powerful fishstorm forming off the coast next week. Let’s see what happens over the coming days and if the GFS and Surfline pick up on this soon. taken in Long Island - New York by @climatekev

Contrails are real. Chemtrails are not.

Temperature and humidity vary every day, but also significantly by ALTITUDE. Generally, the higher a plane flies through the troposphere, the colder the air gets, making conditions more favorable for contrail formation.
Humidity is key to contrail persistence. In dry air, contrails tend to dissipate quickly. In humid, ice-supersaturated air, they can persist for hours and spread across the sky.
That’s why one plane might leave a short-lived trail while another leaves a trail that lasts for hours — even on the same day. taken in Long Island - New York by @climatekev

Monday was definitely my pick for the week but since I normally post my picks on Mondays and spent the whole week hyping it up, deservedly so, here is my pick for the next 7 days. taken in Long Beach, New York by @climatekev

The elements need to align but the ingredients will be there with Hurricane Isaias making its way up to us over the weekend (It’ll weaken once it makes landfall and just be the remnants). We’ll have the very high clouds on the outermost portions of the system and hopefully leaving some room on the horizon for the sun to shine up and illuminate them. Since this storm is coming from the WEST instead of the EAST like the nor’easter, I think sunrises have the greater potential but sunsets too if you don’t want to wake up for it. And remember, the best time for the most vibrant colors of sunset are the 30 minutes AFTER sunset and the ~30 minutes BEFORE sunrise (first light). I’ll never forget walking onto the boardwalk last fall, 2 minutes after sunset and she gleefully said “You missed it!” then we witnessed the best part of the sunset. Jokes on you, Delores. taken in Long Beach, New York by @climatekev
