🌱 Catalysing the silent climate majority starting in communities, workplaces, and in classrooms ⛰️
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
A classified national security assessment seen by ITV News reveals that biodiversity loss is not just an environmental issue, it is a national security threat.

The full report warns:

• UK GDP could be 12% lower by 2030
• Political instability and conflict will become more likely
• Food insecurity increases migration by 1.9% for every 1% rise
• Pandemic risk will increase as biodiversity degrades
• Some ecosystems could begin collapsing by 2030

The UK currently grows just 60% of its food.

This is about economic stability, food security, public health, geopolitics and national resilience.

Climate change and nature breakdown are not distant environmental concerns. They are systemic risks to the UK economy and security.

If the public does not understand the scale of this risk, pressure for serious policy change will not follow.

The hardest lesson isn’t the science.

It’s standing in front of a room full of young people… and knowing the truth matters.

🎬 Today the CMP are launching The Hardest Lesson - a short film about teachers caught between scientific reality, professional duty, and very human emotion.

Watch here or on YouTube via the link in our bio.

Alongside it, we’re sharing real stories from classrooms already doing this differently. When schools are honest about the climate, student well-being actually improves.

This isn’t about fear. It’s about courage.

💛 We’ve launched a 6-week crowdfunder to turn this into a national movement for educators - and we need your help to go viral. (You can find the crowdfunder at the link in our bio!)

👉 Watch the film
 👉 Explore the case studies
👉 Share this with one person who cares about young people.

📅 Tomorrow night (Tue 27 Jan) we’re hosting the online premiere + conversation behind The Hardest Lesson.

Chaired by Caroline Lucas, with educators, researchers, and youth voice, talking honestly about what climate education feels like right now and what actually helps.

🎟️ It’s free, online, and open to teachers, parents, and anyone who cares about the next generation 👉 save a spot, and gain access via the link in our bio.

Share this with someone who should be in the Zoom!

On the Climate Genn podcast, we explore how climate action can become popular again by addressing the issues that matter most to people: the cost of living, secure homes, affordable energy, local food production and community resilience.

What would a serious climate response look like, one that speaks to what the majority of people need, fear, and want?

The Green Party has taken real steps forward this past year. But right now, no political party is offering a convincing answer to the climate crisis.

Our latest report, co-authored by former Green Party leader and MP Caroline Lucas and Rupert Read, takes on these fundamental questions in national politics.

Join our launch on 15 October. Link in bio.

This monster El Niño that has just begun, the biggest in at least a thousand years and quite possibly the biggest ever.

What worries me most is that this event collides with everything else: the extreme summer we’ve just had, the near-closure of the Strait of Hormuz and the threat it poses to fertiliser and food supplies, and the destabilising effects of reckless AI rollout. Governments, financial markets and even the insurance industry are not facing up to this.

Preparedness has to happen at every level: household, neighbourhood, community, national.

This is what we at @climatemajorityproject are working on.

A majority of people want more action on climate ... but life gets in the way, jobs need to he found, bills have got to get paid. So what kind of climate action can make us safer, more connected, and address the cost of living crisis?

What kind of action for and with nature could bring us closer together instead of farther apart?

This is what we tackle in our latest report, co-authored by @rupertread and @carolinelucasbrighton with a forward by community leader @civic_square @immykaur

Thank you also to @labourlewis for your endorsement as well as @thecitizensguy and several others

@rupertread represented the @climatemajorityproject at @extinctionrebellion's recent Love&Rage weekend, bringing a perspective the #climate and #nature movements have often neglected: adaptation. This means building food and energy resilience, strengthening community trust and support, and restoring local ecosystems in ways that buffer extreme weather.

Local community resilience helps us look ahead, get ready, and take care of each other as our world changes. by @climatemajorityproject

🍂 Our monthly Community Calls are back for autumn 🍂
These are supportive, nourishing and connective spaces for anyone engaging in (or interested in) ‘inner work’, care, emotional resilience, relational support, or whatever you call it (!) in response to the climate crisis and other crises we face.

Every month, we’ll platform a different initiative that is integrating inner work or care into their activism, community action or change-making.

First up: Gateshead Community Bridgebuilders, with Andy Crosbie, a brilliant systems change initiative helping community members to step into local decision-making.

There will also be plenty of time for connecting, sharing and learning in small groups and as a larger group.

📅 Join us online at 12.00-13.30 on Tuesday 29 September.
🎟️ Book your free spot and see other upcoming dates via link in bio.
