I had the honor of speaking alongside Vice President Al Gore, Nancy Pelosi, and SF Mayor Daniel Lurie at the opening ceremony of @sfclimateweek 2025 🎉

Today, as I celebrate another trip around the sun, I’m reflecting deeply on this surreal moment—a culmination of over five years of hard work my incredible team has put into building @climate.base from the ground up.

I vividly remember watching @algore's film "An Inconvenient Truth" as a kid. Frankly, it left me feeling far more concerned than inspired, because it seemed like there was nothing someone like me could possibly do to make a difference.

But since then, I’ve learned something important:

Climate change is a symptom of a deeper crisis—our profound disconnection from nature, from each other, and from our sense of belonging.

And over the past 5 years, I've discovered that building community isn’t just an antidote to this disconnection—it’s also something I love to do.

@sfclimateweek represents a physical embodiment of our mission at @climate.base: Building community to accelerate climate solutions.

This year more than 25,000 people participated in over 600 events—connecting activists with entrepreneurs, scientists with indigenous leaders, policymakers with everyday people, and more. And it feels like we're still just getting started.

I’m deeply grateful to my amazing colleagues, my family and friends, our partners, and our global community who’ve made this journey possible. And, of course, a massive thank you to @algore, @speakerpelosi, @danielluriesf—and my colleagues @m0rgancampbell, @lylawarren, @jesseryanhynes @justin.svg, @yassinehamdouni, @messyconv @juliantheomoore and so many others for making this magical moment happen.

Thank you all for making this year so special. ❀

🎉 Former Vice President @algore will keynote @SFClimateWeek!

Vice President Gore is a Noble Peace laureate and one of the world's most influential climate leaders, known for raising awareness through his groundbreaking documentary "An Inconvenient Truth," which shaped public discourse on climate change. His continued leadership through initiatives including The Climate Reality Project and Generation Investment Management has had a profound ongoing impact, empowering activists globally and investing in sustainable innovation and the transition to a sustainable economy.

This year, SF Climate Week will gather over 25,000 attendees across more than 450 events, and has become one of the world's most important gatherings at the intersection of environmentalism and innovation. At its heart, SF Climate Week exemplifies the transformative power of community—breaking down silos, fostering cross-sector collaboration and reconnecting people through shared purpose.

Al Gore’s keynote further amplifies our mission by drawing on his unparalleled experience and vision, helping to accelerate momentum in the climate movement.

“Few figures in the environmental movement command the global recognition and respect as Vice President Gore does,” says Evan Hynes @evhynes, co-founder of @Climate.base and SF Climate Week. “His keynote amplifies SF Climate Week’s role as a lightning rod for collective action, bold ideas, and community-building at a time when the world feels profoundly divided, distracted, and overwhelmed. Gatherings like this offer a rare space for people to forge meaningful connections and generate the momentum we need to accelerate climate solutions—together.”

We sincerely thank Vice President Gore and his team for partnering with us to inspire meaningful action at a time when community, collaboration, and decisive steps forward are more critical than ever.
