🌈 Single Rainbow 5.13a ✅ • I sent my first 5.13 🥹🥰✨!!!! A month’s worth of effort went into this one… all whilst dealing with a sinus infection, shingles, high stress at work, and the emotional rollercoaster that comes with projecting rifle routes 😅. The process certainly wasn’t linear, but I’m proud of my perseverance to see it through. After our time short here, we can’t get enough of this canyon…. we’ll be back later this season for cooler temps! 🖤

Thanks to Rollin for the many patient belays and support on this route!
~15 sessions

Matador Pants, 7c (but kinda hard!)
😭🌟💥👖✅
I’m really proud of my efforts in the Arsenal this season. Over the last two months, I intentionally chose projects that would teach me new technical skills on steep terrain. I learned a ton, gained a lot of fitness, and have overall become a more well rounded climber! Knees, heels, cams, and jams are feeling like a part of my movement vocabulary.

This one felt particularly cryptic for me to learn, specifically on a crack traverse section that contained no real holds (I promise you those are NOT jugs). After several days of literally spending entire sessions dedicated to one bolt at a time, this one slowly pieced itself together.

Today I was day two on, and I had zero expectations. My warmups were not promising: I bailed on an 11a. I then took on the shitty Arsenal 5.11 because I felt so pumped. And magically, I tied in and just absolutely floated this thing. Sometimes, releasing expectations is all we need to do it!

Thanks to all of the supportive belays this season from Rollin, Chris, and Bridget. Same time next year! 🥰🌟 by @climbhappyco

SLAGISSIMO 12dawgs!!!!!!! 💫🐌✨
First of the “style” for me and the steepest route I’ve climbed to date: 4 roof boulders, 9 knees, 2 heel-toe cams, and lots of sequential cave crawling! I have been pushing myself to expand my movement toolbox and gain new skills on angles & terrain that are less available to me at home. I learned a lot from this one…. and completely surprised myself yesterday by going from the two-hang to the no-hang!

The Infidels, 5.13a ✨ A low percentage & Riflesque boulder down low climbs into an immaculate headwall of slippery power crimping! I love a personality change mid-route. 🥰

I put this one together quickly, but then fell victim to the low-percentage nature of the bottom crux. I felt like I was in a hell cycle of sending the bottom and falling in the top boulder, or falling at the bottom and low pointing to the top super easily 🫠. My left shoulder has some serious beef with that bottom crux, so I’m glad this one is over! I think I need to forget the trauma before I try the variations 😂.

PS thanks Justice for perfect catches while I repeatedly punted on move #5 of this climb 🫡 by @climbhappyco

Two new patches have landed on my Etsy platform! 💜

The shoe patch features a new colorway of my existing best-selling design, now with metallic fabric that glitters in the light!

The anti bouldering climbing club patch is for all my friends who are allergic to pebble wrestling 🥰.

Patches are iron-on, but they also may be applied to any soft surface with superglue or a needle and thread!

It’s been a fun 6 weeks in the Hurricave! Unfortunately, I didn’t complete my main objective, and conditions proved to be a significant challenge for me. I could fully numb out in the morning shade and yet still slip off in the baking afternoon sun just 2 hours later 🫠.
I worked hard on building a strong lowpoint on hot/cold days, ultimately adding 15 moves to the top crux, with just 4 hard moves left in the low crux. I am proud of that!
I feel frustrated that my fitness window didn’t align with good conditions, and I’m learning to accept that sometimes it just doesn’t work out in our favor. However, my desire to return in December fitter, stronger, and better prepared is high.
Finally, I also learned that my max for a season project is about 15 sessions before I start mentally going insane 😂. Feeling ready to step away to train and to go climb on new routes at different crags!
Til next time ~

Galactus 12d ✅ • Fun route! There are lots of ways to puzzle out the crux on this one for people of all sizes, which is really cool 🥰. I opted for a deadpoint to a shallow fingertip mono, followed by a cross into a pinchy fin crimp. Trust some nonexistent feet to stand up over the bulge.

There are knees and a flakey jug far left if you need rest before starting the crux sequence, but I decided not to use them to keep the value up.
Go check it out!

Video is an edit from a working burn last week. Didn’t think I was sending in the cold today! 🐸💨 taken in Area 51 by @climbhappyco

Belief is a powerful tool.

I’ve spent most of the year pushing myself by trying routes that are hard for me… and that has caused plenty of self-doubt. On all of my recent limit projects, I’ve had to overcome this doubt and enter a state of full on belief as I’m tying in and attempting to redpoint the route. I often repeat the words “you are strong; you are capable” over and over until I reach the crux, pushing any surfacing self doubt and worry aside.

This practice of belief was necessary for me to send the route I’ve been trying at the Grail. 35 meter routes with cruxes at the last bolt are as mentally challenging as they are physical. I didn’t clip chains until I wholeheartedly believed I could do it.

Honeycomb, 5.13a ✅
You are strong and you are capable ❤️
