Imposter Syndrome 14a

What a fight in the end. Even with a last minute beta change I still barely made it to the mid way shake. The victory climbing after that was relentless and when I made it to the chains I was destroyed. The send Gods must have been shining on me. 🙏
As far as the grade goes, I used alternate beta for both the intro boulder and the main crux. With my beta the link up felt like 13d and Imposter feels like soft 14a. That said, the OG method deserves mad respect. I’ve tried the opening boulder a bit and could probably figure it out with a bit of work but the main crux feels impossible for me. The route is one you’ll have to choose our own adventure on but no matter which way you slice it your slab skills will be tested. by @climbing_first

Imposter Syndrome Vlog

Earlier this year I put a bunch of days into this route using some magic beta breaks but had to walk away due to the mosquito apocalypse. @greasy.rhys got some footy of me trying the route the same day Katie sent Sphinx so I made a little edit. This is pretty much what all my sessions looked like but I wasn’t able to send. Anyways Im back on the route now with even better beta for the main crux section. Which I’ll share when I send. So many wasted tries with the beta in this video. Dahh. Let’s see if it goes down before winter closes in. 🤞 by @climbing_first

Checkout @_soft_touch_ and @pheney24 working the moves on one of my new additions to Planet X. The Front Nine is a bit cryptic but feels manageable once you find the right beta. In the end it’s not any individual move that gets you but the sustained and insecure nature of the climbing. Luckily the bolts are closely placed so working the route easy but you might need to skip some of them on the go. A diamond in the rough. by @climbing_first

We had a nice surprise from our friend Jonathan last week from Salt Lake. We had a jam packed weekend of climbing, good convos and a tons of laughs. I got to show him Planet X where he dispatched Shooting Star 2nd go and after sampling some harder stuff he hopped on my latest line Special Delivery, a name he came up with after dubbing rest near the top of the route “The Pizza Boy Rest” (pic 1).
Thanks for the new memories buddy! Until next time.

Moon Rocks aka Space Cowgirl aka For The Birds aka Pink Eye. One of the new routes I bolted on the left side of the wall near the ominous dirt piles. I decided to re-bolt the start and follow the more natural weakness going right while also making the line more independent from the left branch. New bolts meant a new name and I ended on Moon Rocks named after the big rocks it the right mud pile at the start of the route. Final name I promise.
Katie was mad at first that I moved the bolts but after working out the new sequence she made quick work of the route and seemed to like the new vision. She has been on a sending spree this summer climbing Bone Thief, Sphinx, Letterbuck and Nemo. Give it up for Poot, on to the next. ❤️

My buddy Matt added this little 2bolt problem at the end of University Wall a few years back. His beta revolved around a heinous bump off a terrible right hand crimp (which I no like), to this big jug and called it 12c. I opted to dyno instead. The dyno didn’t make it easier but it was definitely cooler, at least it felt cooler, verdict is still out. Plus, I didn’t want to subluxate my DIP joint as Matt did. I mean I don’t even know what that means, but it doesn’t sound good. Being a little end of session project there was no chance I was doing this move but good for some power training I thought or a chance to practice some visualization tactics from Bry and maybe some heavy breathing techniques I use from time to time. When I stuck the hold we were both genuinely shocked. Not bad for a little turd. by @climbing_first

It’s no secret why Mason is one of our founding members and sits on the Board for pntr climbing. He also serves as President/CEO of Choss Developments, and is a respected squeezer of bolts and Sika tubes throughout the BV.

Here is a little video of Mase on his new-ish Bataan route showing us what pntr climbing is all about.
