POSTS STORIES REELS

Tonight on KOBV: Cure for Paranoia on Hip Hop Hello.

@cureforparanoia came through @kuaf_radio before their show at @theMomentary, and this week you can hear it all on @bentonvilleradio. The Dallas-based group played three songs, and stayed to talk with @clintschaff about the years behind the @nprmusic Tiny Desk win, what makes this a collective, and how they’re making music for the moment we’re living through. I’ve got the full conversation and all three KUAF Live Sessions performances in hour one, surrounded by fresh hip hop — two hours in total.

Big love to @kuaf_radio and @kuaf_music for making the session happen and letting me share it here. Watch the interview and all three performances at youtube.com/@kuaf913. And if you value this kind of local music coverage + local news and info + @npr, support our KUAF friends at supportkuaf.com.

Tonight, 6–8 p.m. on KOBV @bentonvilleradio 103.3 FM or stream at bentonvilleradio.com. Replaying Saturday, 4–6 p.m. on KUAF HD3.

Also in the show:

• @lrbaang and the Gaang take over Shiloh Square in downtown Springdale on Nov. 14. Free, all ages, and the stage is open to the community during the first hour.

• Thundercat comes to Fayetteville’s @ozarkmusichall on Nov. 10, so I put together a little run of tracks connecting him, Erykah Badu, the Alchemist and Rapsody.

• Hip Hop Hello is nominated for an @arkansaslife Life Creator Award in Arts + Entertainment. Voting is open through Nov. 6. Link in stories—and thank you for voting. The homie @bigpiph is a nominee in another category. Show some love. by @clintschaff

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…

Jess was Yayoi Kusama. Carter was Princess Leia. Quincy was Yoda. And Clint was the Star Wars opening crawl, because apparently someone needed to provide narrative structure (and a rationale) for all this.

After a week of pumpkins, princesses, skeletons, muscle men, and even more costume changes, the Schaff Family Halloween saga reached its rainy finale.

The lightsabers glowed. The candy was collected.

May the candy be with you. by @clintschaff

I pity the fool who skips the @runbentonville Goblin Run. ⛓️🏃‍♂️

First run since the Flagstaff half. Had a blast running into friends, taking in all the costumes, and getting 3.1 miles back under my feet. Good to be running again.

Happy Halloween from Mr. T (Mr. Training-for-Another-Half). 🎃🎃🎃 by @clintschaff

Public radio is listener powered. Community powered. People powered. 💪📻

Our listeners are the real muscle behind public radio. I’m just here to flex the gratitude.

Thanks for keeping KUAF and the entire @npr network strong.

From all of us at KUAF, have a safe and happy Halloween! 🎃 by @clintschaff

The kids can’t vote yet. But you can. 🇺🇸✌️🗳️

Get caught up on the races and issues shaping our community (KUAF.com/vote26 Is a good place to start locally), then make your plan and cast your ballot.

And once you’ve done your civic duty, or before, come see us lampoon politics, the news and ourselves at the Northwest Arkansas Gridiron Show @nwagridiron this Thursday or Friday night. Clint is the MC.😬 by @clintschaff

I spend most of my week asking journalists to take their work seriously.

This week, apparently, the NW Arkansas Society of Professional Journalists has decided the responsible thing to do is give me a microphone and encourage the opposite.

I’m MC’ing this year’s NWA Gridiron Show — two nights of journalists, music, satire and making fun of the news, ourselves and whoever else has earned it.

🇺🇸 Totally Revolting
📅 Oct. 29 & 30
⏰ 7 p.m.
📍 The Jones Center, Springdale

Come see what happens when journalists stop reporting the jokes and start telling them. @nwagridiron

We said goodbye to our sweet Mia today. ❤️

Mia was the first and only dog Jess and Clint ever went to see. Clint was allergic to most dogs, so getting one seemed complicated. Then a friend sent a rescue post about this funny little dog.

We met Mia at an adoption event in San Francisco. She jumped right up on Jess. Jess has always said Mia picked her.

And she did.

We wanted kids badly, and through some difficult years trying to make that happen, Mia became our dog-ter. Our first child. Our little family of three.

Some of our favorite memories are from Pacifica, running the trail above the beach. Mia hated the actual ocean — way too scary — but if we got some distance between us, she’d sprint back and forth between us.

She always needed her people together.

She had a little pink patch on her nose that eventually faded away, but she’ll always be @miawiththepinknose.

She crossed the country with us, went through COVID with us, and eventually the babies we’d wanted so badly arrived.

Mia wasn’t sure what to make of Carter at first. But she quickly became her protector and friend. Then Quincy came along.

Our dog-ter became the kids’ dog.

Mia had no idea what she represented in our lives. She didn’t know she carried us through hard years or witnessed our family being built around her.

She just knew she wanted to be wherever we were.

And she was.

So much of our life happened with Mia somewhere in the frame.

Her body eventually couldn’t keep up (kidney disease), and loving her meant making the decision we desperately didn’t want to make. We loved on her and helped our girl leave peacefully.

Mia got essentially her whole life with her people. And we got this chapter of ours with her.

What a gift.

You were our best buddy and the best dog, Mia. We’re going to miss you so much.

For years, next to Mia’s food, we kept a little sign: “Dogs are not our whole lives. But they make our lives whole.”

Turns out it was true.

Celebrating 7+ years with the best pup. Mia 🐶 was our first fur baby. Was right by my side through 5 IVF retrievals, 3 failed transfers, 5 years of 💉, 2 donor transfers, and 2 successful pregnancies. She was a rescue and we weren't sure why she was owner-surrendered ~ they wondered if it's because her other family had a baby and maybe she wasn't good with kids. We will never know why she was owner-surrendered, but she was always the best with our kids and any kids. She was a member of our family and we will forever hold her in our hearts. ❤️ RIP @miawiththepinknose 🤍 by @clintschaff

Fun night at Thaden’s Harvest Fest — food with veggies from the school garden, face painting in a hall full of student art, students selling jewelry and baked goods, and a student rock band that absolutely took off. ✈️

We live two blocks away, and nights like this make Thaden feel even more like our neighborhood school. 🦉 by @clintschaff

Happy actual 50th to my dude, my brother from another mother, @thepiz32! You’re my cousin and my first and always best friend. Pretty amazing that we’ve gotten to grow up together and know each other through all these different versions of ourselves while somehow always still being us. I love you, cuz. So grateful for you and for all the life we’ve gotten to share — and all that’s still ahead. ❤️ by @clintschaff

Hell yes to seeing music locally that surprises you.

Ak’Chamel at the Momentary tonight with Untight (Sam King). Wild, weird, challenging, fun. More of this.

WATCH THIS CONVERSATION — THEN WATCH THE FILM.

Last year on SiriusXM’s Mornings with Zerlina, Zerlina Maxwell spoke with filmmaker Diem Van Groth about what sits at the heart of 612: Darkness in the Land of Nice:

young people who refused to look away.

They organized.
They marched.
They documented.
They demanded to be heard.

Their courage helped turn what happened in Minnesota into a global movement.

612 premiered Thursday and is now streaming free for only 30 days, through November 15, as part of an impact campaign to amplify the young people, community leaders, and organizations continuing the work.
