I have begun the arduous task of compiling and editing the extensive collection of works written by Dr. Isaac E. Kilgore. I have begun my work with his research on the ecology implications of “Temporal Anomaly Zones”(TAZ), starting with his expeditions in the 1970s.

I will be sharing all of these as I edit and posting them to the free Patreon. God bless you all. by @cloakandarrow

My wife and I have just about finished the Study. We worked on cleaning up this spare room which has been filled to the brim with all manner of stuff for who knows how long now. It will be nice to have a place to write again, (and I am certain my wife will appreciate me not leaving stacks of books on the kitchen table) but it does pose a question; is a study necessary? Is it really necessary that one have a home office of sorts if the same tasks can be achieved sitting at the table?

I certainly cannot claim to know the answer, but I can say that a reasonable partitioning of one’s life is a good thing. It is good to have a place to pray, it is good to have a place to eat, a place to sleep, and to pursue academics, though you don’t necessarily NEED such things. Certainly a man can eat where he sleeps or sleep where he works, but that seems to me as something of a bestial nature. There is something explicitly human about being able to use our rationality to decipher the nuances of “space” and how to use it. Yes, a dog might know to not defecate where it eats, but it is not indeed especially particular about where either one occurs.

My wife and I both enjoy “compartmentalization” in architecture, “A house with many rooms”, you could say. This is because having meaning and purpose applied to where we live can help us to more properly order our spiritual lives. Many of the Saints spoke of the importance of order in ones life. Why it is good to rise early and greet the new day, why it is good to stay organized and disciplined, and of course, the importance of forming good habits. We would attribute these qualities to virtue, but we sometimes forget that they are essential to acquiring these virtues in the first place.

For instance, I hate all modern architectural practices, this is no surprise to anyone who knows me. I especially hate the idea of the “studio apartment”, where a person’s whole life is more or less scattered out across one big room. If you think of it from a purely practical standpoint, I saves on space and seems to make sense, but in reality it turns you into something of a beast that eats, bathes, and and sleeps all in the same place.(continued) by @cloakandarrow

The Shrine of The Most Blessed Sacrament has been a beloved pilgrimage spot since the early days of my conversion. It was where I first experienced the full beauty of the Liturgy, and it was where I first experienced the lovliness of sacred music. I can forever count it among the places where I have felt the sweet embrace of Our Lord, and who he calls us, as the Church, to be. Where I felt the spark that lit within my soul the desire to pursue true goodness, truth, and beauty. Now, I have had the blessing of making yet another pilgrimage. This time, with my beloved wife. by @cloakandarrow
