Andre Millet has been quietly building one of the most complete résumés in men’s doubles. Gold at the iPickle Fall Classic with Alex Emery. He also got bronze at APP Overland Park with @blancorandy3. Currently, he has five straight iPickle Grand Slam titles in SoCal with Emery by his side.

We caught up with Millet this week to talk about the partnership, the climb to #1, and what keeps him grounded through it all.

His answer said it best: “I don’t think I’m the best, I just try to focus on my game and make sure I feel better in tournaments.”

Swipe through for more on the mindset behind the #1 team in SoCal doubles.

Alex Emery and Andre Millet took Men’s Doubles, closing out a dominant final over Roman Estareja and Will Wimbish. Zach Champine and Dylan Flippin rebounded from a tough semifinal to claim bronze.

In Women’s Doubles, Madalena Flores and Bryanna Ojeda upset Yana Newell and Nicole Eugenio for the title and the $2,000 prize.

Fall Classic predictions are in!

My full breakdown of the iPickle Fall Classic draw is live on Substack. Women’s, Mixed, and Men’s doubles — projected champs, medal contenders, and the upset picks we can’t stop talking about.

Nicole Eugenio pulls in Yana Newell for a shot at gold. Christine Maddox and Alex Emery look like the mixed team to beat. Andre Millet and Alex Emery run it back in men’s. And a handful of scrappy underdogs are ready to crash the podium.

Emily Cederquist stepped out of retirement to team up with Nicole Eugenio. Two straight over Maddie Grollman and Chelsea Purcell, 11-6, 11-9.

Erik Pailet and Matt Baca won gold this past weekend but had to earn it. Zack Taylor and Claudio Quinones Garcia stole game one, 12-10. Pailet and Baca answered, 11-7, 11-5. The chirping never stopped.

Then there’s Earphone Gate. Pailet wore headphones throughout the entire tournament and several others. USAP’s rulebook says no. Brick Wall says it doesn’t follow USAP. Full breakdown on the Substack.

Mixed doubles got rained out. Refunds went out.

Men’s Doubles has Erik Pailet and Matt Baca as the favorites, but Don Alto and Will Wimbish aren’t far behind after back to back bronze finishes. Watch for Champine and Ora to bring the chaos.

Women’s Doubles is Nicole Eugenio and Emily Cederquist’s show, marking Cederquist’s return after six months away from the game.

And in Mixed, Eugenio doubles up with Zack Taylor looking for the podium, with Chelsea Purcell and Claudio Quiñones Garcia right there to steal it.

APEX Takeover predictions! Please read below for my thoughts:

Projected Winner: Nick Black and Erik Pailet

This veteran duo has been causing havoc in apex. Black’s big right combined with Pailet’s fast hands makes this duo S-tier opponents.

Expected to medal:

Zack Taylor and Matt Baca

“Ice Spice” returns to the left side after winning gold this past weekend with Alex Emery. Baca, who failed to make it out of pool at CAPA, must dust himself off and get to work. Can Baca come through or is he just a munch?

Sunny Krittayaweth and Joshua Yoo

This steady duo has been putting in countless hours at cab to ensure they punch their ticket into playoffs and potentially the final. Krittayaweth and Yoo won 2nd at @dropickleball_ ‘s summer moneyball where they fell to Emery and Tran. Can this duo blaze through the already stacked draw?

Teams to Watch (For an Upset)

Matthew Powley and Aaron Li
@lifetime.breaoc coach teams up with @thrive.pb sponsored pro Aaron Li with hopes to make it to the playoffs. This OG duo understands each other and have the open level experience to prove themselves.

Dylan Flippin and Zach Champine:

One of my favorite teams to compete. This duo has one of the best drive and crash techniques in the game! They pillaged teams with their aggression and aspire to make it on the podium. Can this south OC team drive their way to the top?

Yaamunan Venkatesan and Oliver Hu:

“Moo” was on fire this past weekend at CAPA. He secured a silver medal with Dan Mccauley and played wonderfully throughout the tourney. He teams up with practice partner Oliver Hu to take on the comp. Can Moo play big enough to carry Hu?
