Keynote for Institutional Investor in Boston this week, speaking to Chief HR and Talent Officers from across the asset management industry. The theme: what show business can show business. HR leaders and showrunners both live in the middle, translating between the people making decisions and the people living with them. Thank you to the Institutional Investor team for having me back, and to everyone in the room for your time and candor. by @clocktowerinnovation

I’ve watched Pardon the Interruption most weekdays for 24 years. Around the Horn was always the show that came before it. My latest Streamline is about why one of them is still on the air and the other isn’t, and honestly, it was fun to finally put into words why I feel so differently about two shows that are nearly identical on paper. Turns out it’s not really about the hosts, though Kornheiser and Wilbon have chemistry you can’t fake. It’s about the clock. PTI runs on a ticking countdown that forces every conversation into a tight window. Around the Horn never had that same discipline built into its format. One show turned structure into its secret weapon. The other never figured out what its guardrails were supposed to be. This is a microcosm of the work I do with leadership teams. Everyone assumes the fix is more talent, more ideas, more time in the room. Usually it’s the opposite. The best teams I’ve worked with succeed because they know exactly where their guardrails are, not despite them. New Streamline is up. Link in bio. by @clocktowerinnovation
Here is the first episode of AJ v AI! 🤖 #GenAi #Comic #Funny by @clocktowerinnovation
In an AI world, storytelling has become a business function, not a marketing nice-to-have. Titles like Chief Storytelling Officer are popping up everywhere. Three years ago, before that trend had a name, I started Clock Tower Innovation on a simple idea: the muscles you build running a TV show are the same ones companies need to actually land their message. -Think of a campaign as a season, not a one-off episode. -Generate more ideas, faster, the way a live show does. -Capture attention in the first 30 seconds, or lose the room. That’s the idea behind calling myself a corporate showrunner. Earlier this year, Miles Jennings at @mediabistro profiled my work. Starting year four of Clock Tower now, figured it was worth resurfacing. Full profile linked in bio. Curious what resonates, and reach out if it’s a conversation your team needs. by @clocktowerinnovation
Last week I had the privilege of working with 250 young leaders at BBYO’s International Leadership Training Conference in Pennsylvania. We ran an exercise called Press Conference from the Future - participants present a meaningful goal as if it’s already been achieved, then field tough questions from the room. Group after group, people discovered they already knew more about how to get there than they thought. Grateful to the BBYO team for the invitation - and to every participant who showed up ready to do the work. If this sounds like something your team needs, let’s talk. by @clocktowerinnovation
