Thanks to @propertyweek for having us at the Inspiring Women in Property Awards last night. It is always an important date in our calendar, and a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the incredible women shaping the future of the property industry.

We recently brought together industry leaders, developers, housebuilders, investors and policymakers for a series of State of Play roundtable discussions in Manchester and London.

Hosted in partnership with the @homebuildersfederation (HBF), @velux , The Housing Forum and JLL, the sessions explored the challenges and opportunities facing the housing and living sectors, helping to shape the research and recommendations that will feature in this year’s reports.

Across both discussions, several common themes emerged, including planning delays, viability pressures, market confidence, investment, and the need for practical policy measures to support housing delivery and long-term growth.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended, both in person and virtually, and contributed so openly. The insights shared will play an important role in shaping our final research findings, which we look forward to sharing later this year. 🏠💭 by @closebrothersproperty

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us at our Summer Drinks event earlier this week.

It was a fantastic opportunity to bring together many of the customers and industry partners we are proud to work alongside, and to celebrate their successes in what continues to be a challenging market for the property sector.

Events like these remind us of the value of bringing great people together and of the strength and resilience of our industry. We're proud to play our part in supporting its future success.

Some of our London team have been busy volunteering this summer, taking part in beach cleans with the @mcs_uk in Brighton and Southend for World Environment Day, while others spent time supporting conservation efforts with @heath_hands in North London.

Those taking part in the beach cleans helped to remove and record litter found along the coastline, helping to protect marine life and reduce pollution in our oceans. The valuable data collected also supports campaigns for long-term environmental change. Meanwhile, volunteers with Heath Hands rolled up their sleeves for weeding and gardening projects, helping to care for and preserve some of London’s most treasured green spaces.

A huge thank you to both charities for organising these fantastic volunteering opportunities and for the important work they do to protect our beaches, seas, green spaces and wildlife. We recently agreed a £20m Revolving Credit Facility with award-winning, sustainable housebuilder @gs8homes to support the delivery of 52 new homes in Radlett, Hertfordshire.

The scheme will transform a stalled site into a vibrant new community, which combines heritage, sustainability and innovative living. gs8 have over 200 buyer enquiries registered ahead of the launch, proving the demand for these fantastic new homes is already strong.

Last year, 17 colleagues took on the North Downs Ultra Challenge, walking 50km in challenging summer conditions to raise money for @rgphospice in memory of our friend and colleague, Mark Ryan.

Mark was a valued member of our team for 14 years and is missed enormously by everyone who knew him. Taking on this challenge was our way of honouring his memory, whilst giving back to the charity that provided exceptional care and support to Mark and his family.

We’re incredibly proud to have raised more than £19,000, thanks to the generosity of our colleagues, customers, friends and industry network.

What could the UK housing market look like if SME housebuilders were given the conditions to grow?🏡

According to our latest State of Play 2025 report, SMEs say they could build 100,000 more homes, a potential 56% uplift in output if long-standing barriers were addressed.

94% of SME builders say securing planning permission or discharging conditions is a major issue, while 97% say business taxation and the regulatory environment are barriers to growth over the next 12 months.

There is clearly opportunity in this market, but unlocking it will take more than ambition alone.
