I don’t know if this post was meant to be mean or simply playful and honestly, that’s not really the point.

What caught my attention was the conversation underneath it. Some of the comments became surprisingly hostile and it made me think about how quickly a fun comparison can turn into artists being pitted against each other.

So I wanted to say something about it not to call anyone out, but because I think it’s a conversation worth having.

Artists don’t need to be compared in order for us to appreciate them. They can be completely different and still be equally exciting, important and inspiring in their own way.

And as fans, I think we have more influence over the culture around music than we sometimes realise. We can choose to celebrate artists without turning them into opposing teams.

You can love Caroline Polachek. You can love Harry Styles. You can love Tate McRae. You don’t have to decide who deserves more.

The industry is already tough enough. Maybe we can make the space around it a little kinder. 🤍 by @closer2vision

A childhood dream, a pop star and the long road from Slovakia to the spotlight. ✨

The record is playful and glamorous on the surface, but underneath it is deeply personal: about ambition, femininity, relationships, family and what it really means to grow into a dream you once thought was impossible.
