Will your wedding video still play in 20 years? Probably not. 📼

Digital wedding videos are far more fragile than most couples realise:

💾 Storage fails. Hard drives, SD cards, USB sticks and DVDs degrade over time. Most last only 5-10 years.

🎞️ Formats go obsolete. Floppy disks, VHS, MiniDV... every format eventually dies. Today’s codecs and file types are next.

☁️ Cloud isn’t forever. Subscriptions lapse, accounts get closed, passwords get lost, and companies shut down.

🔌 Devices disappear. Laptops dropped the DVD drive years ago. Even USB ports are being phased out.

🗂️ Files get forgotten. Most couples watch their wedding film a handful of times, then it sits untouched on a drive until it’s corrupted.

Your wedding day happens once. The file it lives in has an expiry date. 🤍

When a friend requests for a cat themed card-wallet, it will be a cat-astrophe if you don’t deliver. 😸

Once again, it’s that time of year when most of the dogs within a couple of kilometres of my home get new drip, not for fashion, but simply to keep them warm in the cold.

For 2023–24, I set aside about 2.5% of WeddilyForever’s total invoiced revenue (not profits) for animal welfare causes (not limited to just dogs). As we head into the new year, I’m planning to raise that to 5%, thanks entirely to my wonderful couples who have generously encouraged me to do more.

Ps. For those who like numerical details: I bought nearly 650 kg of Royal Canin Maxi for dogs and around 270 kg of Royal Canin Fit for the cats, not to mention the copious amount of rice, chicken, fish, veggies, fruits etc. that is the backbone of their daily diet.

Why should “Jeetu from Videocon” have all the fun farming “aura”? 😅

Ps. Gotta watch Dhurandhar, now that I’m home.

Getting lessons from an Olympic gold medallist is going to be one of those proper bucket-list moments.

Ps. Looks like the bride’s sister wanted to test my nerve before the wedding even kicked off. And now she knows how resolute I am specially when it comes to preserving weddings. 😅 taken in Engadin St. Moritz by @cloud_chaser29

Keeping that inner kid alive is still a struggle. Hope parents these days let the kids be kids, instead of burdening them with their own insecurities.

Looks like my dumb phone was hardwired to preserve wedding memories even before I had the initial idea that became the backbone of WeddilyForever.

Over a decade old, shot for a certain company out of Mumbai that shall not be named here. It’s just a Pre-Vis ideation (RoughCut) for a PreWedding Film that I shot and was editing.

It came as a pleasant surprise, to see myself using hyper-lapses and other editing shindigs before all these became en-vogue and flooded Insta and other social media platforms.

Ps. Found this while looking for another video from 2017 that I shot/edited as the couple seems to have lost all backups of their wedding video. Yes, found that video too. 😎

Note - I wonder how many videogs can find decade old videos that they shot while “freelancing”? 🫠
