⚡ What actually happens in the cloud when a developer types git push?

Ten years ago a single typo could take down an entire website. Today top engineering teams deploy thousands of times a day with zero downtime, using a CI/CD pipeline: the moment you hit enter your code is tested by GitHub Actions, sealed into a Docker container and handed to Kubernetes, which swaps old servers for new ones one by one. 🌐 Almost every Azure job interview has a networking question. These 5 pieces cover most of them.

1️⃣ Virtual Network and subnets
Your own private network in Azure, divided into subnets for different parts of your app.

2️⃣ Network Security Group (NSG)
Allow and deny rules on a subnet or a VM’s network card.

3️⃣ VNet peering
Connects two virtual networks so resources in each can reach the other over Microsoft’s network.

4️⃣ Private endpoint
Puts a service like Storage or SQL on a private IP inside your VNet, so it isn’t reached over the public internet.

5️⃣ Azure Bastion
Connect to your VMs over RDP or SSH from the Azure portal, with no public IP on the VM.

🎬 In 2015 an AWS outage took down half the internet. Netflix kept streaming.

They had already planned for a whole region failing: data copied across regions with Cassandra, and traffic that can fail over to another region in minutes. Active-active, not a cold backup.

That’s the difference between a backup plan and a design that expects failure.
