Today, I wanted to share my favorite authors and honestly, I think I’m going to make individual posts for all of them because I have so much to say about how much and why I adore their writing and what their books mean to me. Not to be dramatic, but they have all contributed to making me the person I am and for that I will forever be grateful.

Today was such a fun little adventure. I went to the movies to watch a phenomenal movie called your mother your mother your mother, 10/10, everyone go support rig her now. Then I spontaneously went to a bookstore I really like, and I hadn’t been to a bookstore in a while because I don’t behave but today I did. I just walked around and waited for books to call to me and took pictures of the ones I was intrigued by. I also listened through Eric Nam’s new album three times and it’s really fun and moody and I think very autumn 🍂 vibe.

In this book, Elif Shafak retells the story of the life of French author Gustave Flaubert from his childhood to his death. His most famous work being Madame Bovary with his heroine Emma which led him to be brought to court because of corruption of women and indecency or something in the height of censorship during that era.

Anyway, many people think of Flaubert as a connoisseur of the female mind so Elif Shafak turned that premise around and had 30 female voices (not all humans) tell his life story. I’m always so so impressed with all the care and research and intentionality that goes into her books. The “full circle” of characters is so amazing, someone mentioned on page 67 will come up again on page 400 and suddenly everything will click. She is such a talented storyteller.

Everyone always complains that the book was better when books are adapted. My personal approach is to separate the two and lower my expectations for the adaptation so I can have a fun time. I am strict when I review or rate books but I don’t need much when I review shows or movies, if I had fun then I’m chill! :)

also I never hear anyone talking about the love in the big city adaptation. I love it so so much. Watched both the show version and movie version but prefer the movie version. You know it’s serious when I put on a big cat documentary, but they’re so good and now I know so much about lions and cheetahs and I love that for me

Was fighting for my life at work but we are so back. I finally feel like a human again. I can finally focus on writing my dissertation again. Maybe life is worth living guys.
