Two things: 1) I first saw Paris is Burning on my last day of high school in 2015. They played it at Prospect Park on the night of the 4 year anniversary of legalized gay marriage. Supreme dropped some hats and shirts in June using the title, and images of Willi Ninja, w the irony of the brand serving mostly straight men and culture that I hope would watch one of the most beautiful and most informative documentary. 2) I have been thinking heavy about my (available) materials. I find myself slightly critical of using markers, or anything other than paint; then feeling like I need to invalidate the work as less serious than paint? Almost apologetic for NOT using it. Using vocab to lessen it.. but really a drawing .. is a drawing.. And I think about that even more bc what makes oil paint more serious? Bc it is expensive? And historically was valued (in society) ? Less accessible when you don’t have a designated or separate space from your bedroom? Special? Who even declares what’s fine arts and what isn’t, why does it matter, bc the only thing that matters is when I (or we) want to make something and that continued belief is enough .. oki bye by @cloudydhay
